Lovelock Cave: Red-Haired Giants of Ancient Nevada - DOCUMENTARY (Part 1)
Remember to 'Subscribe' and click the 'bell' icon to get notifications of new videos: WATCH PART 2 HERE: Hugh Newman follows on from his and Jim Vieira's research in 'Giants On Record' and visits the mysterious Lovelock Cave in northern Nevada. It is said to be where red-haired cannibalistic giants once lived and were killed off by the Paiute tribe hundreds of years ago as written about by Sarah Winnemucca Hopkins. They battled with these giants called the 'Si-Te-Cah' which translates as either thigh-eaters or tule-eaters. Numerous mummified remains were discovered from 1911 onwards when digging for bat guano in the cave and over 20,000 artifacts were also excavated. The earliest dating is at around 2700 BC, but the site could be much older as local caves such as Hidden Cave and Spirit Cave have yielded dates as early as 7,400 BC. The video also includes exclusive aerial footage and rare accounts from private journals and local news reports.

William Melville: The Queen's Detective
Henchman Productions presents William Melville - The Queen's Detective, a thrilling and gritty historical radio drama about one of Kerry's forgotten heroes, the Spymaster from Sneem, William Melville.
William Melville - The Queen's Detective is an original 45 minute radio drama which highlights just one exciting chapter in the outstanding career of Sneem native and spymaster William Melville. Melville emigrated to London in the 1860s and worked his way up the police ranks to become head of Scotland Yard's Special Branch. He later set up the agency that would become MI5. His legendary status within the spy community inspired the character 'M' in the popular James Bond novels by Ian Fleming.
In this story, set in the summer of 1889, Melville's skills are put to the test as he is assigned to protect the visiting Shah of Persia as Fenian anarchists aim to bloody the Queen's nose by assassinating the royal guest. This drama is based on actual events and creates an intriguing insight into the world of political intrigue, criminality, and espionage that was late Victorian London. This programme is intended to inform the Kerry audience of the important achievements of one of its most successful sons through the exciting and engaging medium of radio drama.
This drama is brought to you by the award winning team at Henchman Productions, winners of Gold and Silver medals at the New York Festivals International Radio Program and Promo Awards 2013 and winners of several PPI radio awards. The play was written by Daithi McMahon and Fred O'Connor and features outstanding performances by Alan Teahan in the lead role of William Melville along with radio drama stalwarts Morgan C. Jones, Cathal Quinn and David Coon; the play also features Currow native Brid O'Connor.
