Kayaking Destinations in New Mexico - Rio Grande Bosque, Albuquerque
The most frequently asked question I receive is Where do you kayak in New Mexico? There are literally hundreds of miles of rivers and thousands of miles of lake shorelines to explore by kayak, right here in New Mexico. Those living in Albuquerque or Santa Fe need not go far to find one of the most scenic destinations around; The Rio Grande Bosque, just North of Albuquerque, NM. Once on the river, the Bosque and nearby Sandia Mountains offer spectacular scenery year around for a truly remote wilderness feeling. Great for kids, novices, seniors and group outings. Kayaking The Rio Grande Bosque
Promotional kayaking piece for NM Outdoor Youth Leadership Program. New Mexico Kayak Instruction with Kelly Gossett sponsored this great Albuquerque float as an event through Alb/Santa Fe Kayak Meetup Group. Forty-five kayakers, plus the mayor and his family, joined us for this opportunity to float from Paseo Del Norte to Central/Tingley. Kayaking in New Mexico is an outstanding way to spend time in the great outdoors and offers a novel way to explore our rivers. New Mexico offers a wide range of kayaking for all skill levels from whitewater to gentler river runs as well as scenic lake paddling. The Greater Albuquerque/Santa Fe Meetup Group offers a wide variety of group events to promote kayaking as well as other activities such as outdoor photography, kayak fishing, river art projects, river clean ups, volunteering with triathlons and youth leadership groups. Kayak New Mexico, Inc. 501c3 even teaches young children and adults with Autism to kayak and is working with Wounded Warriors to give Veterans a chance to play in the water. Come join us in our paddling adventures as we explore beautiful New Mexico river/lake destinations and become part of our growing group of paddlers that help in many important community programs throughout the state.
