A Walk Through Sainte-Chapelle, Paris
The Sainte-Chapelle is a royal chapel in the Gothic style, within the medieval Palais de la Cité, the residence of the Kings of France until the 14th century, on the Île de la Cité in the River Seine in Paris, France.
Construction began some time after 1238 and the chapel was consecrated on 26 April 1248. The Sainte-Chapelle is considered among the highest achievements of the Rayonnant period of Gothic architecture. It was commissioned by King Louis IX of France to house his collection of Passion relics, including Christ's Crown of Thorns – one of the most important relics in medieval Christendom, later hosted in the nearby Notre-Dame Cathedral until the 2019 fire, which it survived.
Along with the Conciergerie, the Sainte-Chapelle is one of the earliest surviving buildings of the Capetian royal palace on the Île de la Cité. Although damaged during the French Revolution, and restored in the 19th century, it has one of the most extensive 13th-century stained glass collections anywhere in the world.

Day 2 of 42 in Europe... Our 2nd day in Paris started early with a visit to the Sainte-Chapelle chapel for the impressive display of original 13th century stained glass. Then, on to the notorious Notre-Dame to tour its French Gothic architecture and climb to the top of the bell tower.

Later, we met up with Bruno, Yuki, and some friends for lunch, join the newly engaged couple shopping for wedding bands and meet Bruno’s sister at her shop. It's Sfumato Paris ( ...stop in and tell Fanny that Bruno's American vlogger friend sent you! We closed out the night patio-hopping in the 17th Arr.

A short video of our time in the church or chapel of Sainte-Chapelle, Paris, France: the royal chapel which is decorated in a Gothic style,, with the most magnificent stain glass window display I've ever seen - beautiful! Well worth a visit if you're a fan of colorful stained glass windows and their awe-inspiring nature. Just gorgeous.
I'd say Sainte-Chapelle is a highly recommended place to visit in Paris - it's not cheap, but it's one of the most beautiful stain glass chuches I've ever seen in the world - very impressive - a bit of a hidden gem since it doesn't look all that special from the outside but once you go in, it's amazing!

En 1248, le roi Louis IX fit édifier à Paris et à son usage quasi exclusif une chapelle afin d’abriter la Sainte Couronne d’épines de Jésus crucifié. Chef-d’oeuvre de l’art gothique, la Sainte-Chapelle servit surtout de catalyseur religieux pour son peuple qui vit dans ce roi couronné à 12 ans un protecteur et un rassembleur.

Sainte-Chapelle, Paris France. Be overwhelmed by the most dazzling Gothic interior anywhere. When I got up to the top of the tiny spiral staircase and the beige stone turned into 4 gorgeous walls of colorful stained glass, I literally said wow; but it was muted for the video because I sounded silly saying wow 4 times. :) Most of the stained glass here is original. It was amazing to have been able to see the same beautiful interior people have marveled at for 8 centuries.
