Living in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida
Presented by Sotheby’s International Realty Affiliates LLC
For more information go to
Located along the panhandle in the region known as the Emerald Coast, Santa Rosa Beach is one of 16 separate seaside neighborhoods along a 26-mile stretch in South Walton County.
It is famous for its sugar sand beaches and turquoise surf, the color being a happy result of how the shallow waters of the Gulf of Mexico reflect off the white sand.
The shoreline of Santa Rosa Beach extends between Four Mile Village to Inlet Beach, just before the Walton and Bay County lines. The Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport is in close proximity.
The community is a travel magazine favorite, frequently showing up on lists of top beaches and preferred family friendly destinations. Life revolves around the water with such activities as fishing, kayaking and standup paddleboarding, but the area also has an active arts and dining scene with galleries, cafes and numerous festivals. It’s not surprising Santa Rosa visitors have a repeat rate of 94 percent. Outdoor life on the Gulf is vibrant. Topsail Hill Preserve State Park has more than three miles of white sand beaches and, famously, sand dunes nearly 25 feet high. Off-road bicyclists and hikers head to Point Washington State Park, a 15,000-acre preserve. It’s a setting unlikely to change. Forty percent of the South Walton area is state-owned and protected from development.
Vero Beach Florida | Vero Beach is in Indian River County, Florida, USA | #verobeach
Vero Beach is a city in and the seat of Indian River County, Florida, United States. There is lot's to do in Vero Beach. is an updated Vero Beach Event's Calander - Indian River County is a county located in the Treasure Coast region of the U.S. state of Florida. Vero Beach has a humid subtropical climate, with hot and humid summers and warm, sunny, and dry winters. The average annual temperature is 72.7 °F, with an annual high temperature of 81.4 °F and an annual low temperature of 64 °F. On average Vero Beach is frost free.
Vero Beach has a rich Pre-Columbian History as well.
His name was Vero Man (not to be confused with #FloridaMan) A Neolithic skull was discovered in 1915, but it has since been misplaced. It appeared to represent a culture from 11,000 to 14,000 years ago, with 13,000 years ago as the most likely timeframe.
And of course, if there was a pre-Columbian we also have a Post-Columbian era.
In 1872 Captain Allen W. Estes officially established the first land patent between the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian River Lagoon.
In 1715, a Spanish treasure fleet wrecked off the coast of Vero. Eleven out of twelve Spanish ships carrying tonnes of silver foundered in a hurricane. The remains of the silver attracted pirates. A group of 300 unemployed English privateers led by Henry Jennings stole about £87,500 in gold and silver in their first acts of piracy.
In 1893 Henry Flagler’s Florida East Coast Railway began operation through the area.
The town of #Vero was chartered in 1919. Vero was officially renamed Vero Beach and was switched from being part of St. Lucie County to become the county seat of Indian River County when it was formed in 1925.
During the war year of 1942 the U.S. Navy selected 1,500 acres (6.1 km2) surrounding the Vero Beach Municipal Airport as the site of a Naval Air Station. It was commissioned in November.

Beaches
The beaches in Vero Beach are part of Florida's Treasure Coast. Vero's three main public beaches are South Beach, accessible at the eastern end of State Road 656 at the eastern end of 17th Street; Humiston Park, in Vero's Central Beach Business District on Ocean Drive and Jaycee Park which is adjacent to Conn Beach. These beaches are lifeguard protected from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. There are 26 miles of oceanfront shore in Indian River County. Vero Beach also has other free public access trails and walkways with beach access, such as Riomar Beach, Sea Cove, Sea Grape Trail, Sexton Plaza, and Turtle Trail.
Water recreation in the Indian River Lagoon
The Indian River Lagoon, passing through Vero Beach, forms a significant portion of the Intracoastal Waterway, and is a hub for boating, fishing, water skiing, diving, kayaking, and other small-craft waterborne activities.
Historic Dodgertown
Vero Beach is home to Historic Dodgertown, the former Spring Training facility of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team. Since the team's departure for a new Spring home in Arizona in 2008, it now serves as a year-round multi-purpose facility for athletes of all ages.

The Palm Island, Dubai UAE - Megastructure Development
An awe-inspiring engineering feat, Dubai Palm Islands is definitely the largest artificial islands on earth. These Islands are three man made islands in the form of massive palm trees connected to the beaches of Dubai. The first island is the Palm Jumeirah, Jebel Ali Palm second and the third is the Palm Deira which is the biggest of them all. This artificial archipelago located off the coastline of United Arab Emirates in Persian Gulf.
Dubai islands project was commissioned by Sheikh Mohammed in an effort to maximize beachfront property. Dubai's palm tree-shaped resort island on land built from the sea will contribute 120 km of beaches. Aside from the construction of the ambitious expansion, there is also the problem of constructing a mini city, which consists of 4,500 high-end residential homes, miles of roads, luxurious hotels and many amenities that will require basic human resources including electricity, safe drinking water and many more. This enormous project will position Dubai as one of the top tourist destinations in the world.
I will tell you why these islands have appeared and that they must satisfy. Dubai is an emirate that open sea about 50 km (an estimate) and the sites required for building projects are on the beach. To view course and especially to park in front of the yacht's property or even assembly.
Well when the beach was not available, and demand persists, the beach had invented. And it appeared artificial islands. Hence so sophisticated forms of the islands: they had to provide a larger opening to the ocean.
This new concept quickly caught on. 'Only a' product 'high-end, the latest wrinkle in the most creative developers metropolis. A new source of land, location of the trick of the planet Earth! The job went, the two islands were settled immediately, with mixed development, spectacular, exorbitant, and finally in Dubai's specific style ... In parallel to the World archipelago started building and other projects are still on the drawing board Nakheel, developer. But crisis compels us to winter a little ...
Where is the dream of similar islands: In Lebanon, wants to build a cedar shaped islands, the symbol of this country. Russia wants to try an island / an archipelago in Black in Sochi at the 2014 Olympics, at least that is speaking through the past years. Also in Japan there are several large airports built on artificial islands.
The Palm Islands are artificial peninsulas constructed of sand dredged from the bottom of the Persian Gulf by the Belgian company Jan De Nul and the Dutch company Van Oord.
The sand is sprayed by the dredging ships, which are guided by DGPS, onto the required area in a process known as rain-bowing because of the arcs in the air when the sand is sprayed. The outer edge of each Palm's encircling crescent is a large rock breakwater. The breakwater of the Palm Jumeirah has over seven million tons of rock.
The Palm Islands are an artificial archipelago (islands) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Major commercial and residential infrastructures will be constructed by Nakheel Properties, a property developer in The UAE. The Belgian and Dutch dredging and marine contractors, Jan De Nul and Van Oord, some of the world's specialists in land reclamation, were hired to complete construction. The islands are the Palm Jumeirah, the Palm Jebel Ali and the Palm Deira.
Each settlement will be in the shape of a palm tree, topped with a crescent. The settlements will have a large number of residential, leisure and entertainment centers. The Palm Islands are located off the coast of The UAE in the Persian Gulf and will add 520 kilometers of beaches to the city of Dubai.
The first two islands will comprise of approximately 100 million cubic meters of rock and sand. The Palm Deira will be composed of approximately one billion cubic meters of rock and sand. All materials will be quarried in The UAE. Among the three islands, there will be over 100 luxury hotels, exclusive residential beach side villas and apartments, marinas, water theme parks, restaurants, shopping malls, sports facilities and health spas.
The creation of the Palm Jumeirah began in June 2001. Shortly after, the Palm Jebel Ali was announced and reclamation work began. The Palm Deira is planned to have a surface area of 46.35 square kilometers and was announced for development in October 2004.

Cuba – Enjoy old-world architecture, famous cigars and classic cars in this long-isolated island nation. Check out Cuba’s top sights for travelers.
When ready, browse vacation packages to Cuba:
Despite being within easy reach of Florida and the Bahamas, #Cuba exists in a time and space all its own.
Explore Cuba’s capital, Havana, a city preserved by forts, a five-mile seawall, and an imposed embargo, which held back the excesses of the 20th century for over 50 years. Havana’s lure can be hard to resist, but a #vacation in Cuba can offer so much more beyond the seductive lights of its capital. In Cuba, a long sandy beach is never far away.
Sometimes it’s hard to know whether Cuba is awakening to the world, or if the world is awakening to Cuba. Whatever your politics, it's easy to admire this island nation that has proudly gone its own way. Cuba may still have one foot firmly in the past, but as the world tumbles towards tomorrow, we can be thankful for the many things it has not let go.
For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

Driving in rough water is often uncomfortable but if mismanaged it can be downright dangerous. Apply these quick tips and the next time you find yourself in a bad situation you'll arrive back at the ramp safely and not nearly as sore.
Prepare before you go out in heavy seas. Be sure that you're wearing a life jacket ( PFD ) and always wear your kill switch while operating your outboard motor. Pay attention to your equipment and do preventative maintanence. The middle of the lake in large waves is not the time to have a minor breakdown leave you stranded!

Clearwater Florida is a city located in Pinellas County, Florida, United States, nearly due west of Tampa and northwest of St. Petersburg. To the west of Clearwater lies the Gulf of Mexico and to the east lies Tampa Bay
Literally translated Clear Water from the native Indian Pocotopaug, the area was named for its abundant fresh springs along the shore. Settled by colonists in the mid-1830s, it was not until the 1890s that Clearwater Florida gained a reputation as a resort community.
Present-day Clearwater Florida was originally the home of the Timucuan, Calusa and Apalachee tribes. Around 1835, the U.S. Army began construction of Fort Harrison as an outpost during the Seminole wars. The fort was located on a bluff overlooking Clearwater Harbor in an area known today as Harbor Oaks. University of South Florida archeologists excavated the site in 1977 after Alfred C. Wyllie discovered an underground ammunition bunker while digging a swimming pool on his estate.
As a top year-round destination, Clearwater Florida offers a seemingly endless supply of entertainment, natural beauty, and outdoor activities both on land and at sea. No one can afford to miss this ultimate destination, ideally situated on Florida's stunning West Coast and offering something for every visitor and every budget. Enjoy casual and fine dining, vibrant activities and the rich history and heritage of the area in a mild, temperate climate. We invite you to soak up the fun and sun of Clearwater's outstanding coastline.
