Offshore Tampa Bay Fishing for Lane Snapper and Mangrove Snapper
Taking advantage of flat calm conditions and warm weather, some friends and I loaded the boat and ran out to catch some dinner. We were targeting lane snapper and mangrove snapper, with some bonus porgies. The action was pretty steady through the morning. The lane snapper have run quite large this year and are averaging 15 inches.

DVJ Luna Fishing Charter On Tampa Bay 11 18 2017
On Nov. 18th 2017, I booked a salt water fishing guide to take me out on Tampa Bay to target snook, reds, trout, and jacks. This is the first time I seriously fished in Tampa Bay and to say that I had a great time on the water is an UNDERSTATEMENT! Capt. Michael Dawson and his first mate Ash Houghton simply went above and beyond the call of duty to put me on the fish and PUT ME ON THE FISH they did. Although there was no official count on how many fish I pulled onto the boat but we estimate that there was about 40 fish in total caught that day. If you are visiting the Tampa Bay area and want to go salt water fishing, I highly recomend these 2 to take you out on the water where their experiece and knowledge of the area, their top quality fishing gear and tackle plus their professionalism will have them putting you on the fish which is a recipe for a great time out on the water. Check out their website at to book your fishing excursion and tell them that I (Brian Luna) sent you.

A Beautiful Morning on the Water
A beautiful morning on the water. We had an early morning fog in Tampa Bay. It cleared up to a beautiful day. Fishing was great. A lot of under slot fish but a constant bite.
Crystal River 2-11-15 with Jon
Jon had errands to run in the morning and me and megan didn't mind a later start. Didn't hit the water till after noon, when a friend was already leaving and decided to give us 3 sheepshead. So we had our target fish before leaving the dock. On the way out it got windy so we decided to stay in the river and not waste the gas. Caught several nice snapper from 1-3pm. Looked for bass and snook with no luck and called it quits before 4pm. Plenty of fish to eat without burning much gas. Everything was on live free lined shrimp on rocks in river.
Gary Finch Outdoors-TripleTail Will 2019
Hot, still summer days mean one thing to me…it’s time to go triple-tail fishing! The first call I always make is to Captain Will Manci of Eastern Shore Outfitters. Will has spent his lifetime getting to know Mobile Bay and seems to know just what rock, buoy, log or piling the triple-tail might be hiding under!

Super Grouper - Full Episode
Florida’s underwater giants are back! After years of over-harvesting, Goliath Grouper have made a noticeable resurgence off of Florida’s coasts. Changing Seas joins scientists in the field as they study the life history of these awe-inspiring fish. Their goal is to gain a better understanding of the species and the obstacles it faces on the road to full recovery.
Weighing up to a thousand pounds and reaching seven feet in length, Goliath Grouper, Epinephelus itajara, are the Atlantic Ocean’s largest species of fish in the sea bass family. Formerly known as Jewfish, years of over-harvesting severely reduced the Goliath’s numbers, and in 1990 the fishery was closed in U.S. waters. Since then, the species has had time to slowly regenerate in Florida and the fish are once again seen on popular dive sites, especially in the summertime when the animals aggregate to spawn.
But this recovery hasn’t been a welcome sight to all – some recreational fishermen believe goliath grouper are devouring popular game fish, and that it is time to re-open the fishery. Scientists, however, have conducted studies on the grouper’s diet and determined that their main source of food is crustaceans – and not other groupers and snappers. Researchers say it’s too early to re-open the fishery. While they are encouraged by the goliath’s recovery in Florida, the fish remain critically endangered throughout the rest of their range.

Giant Pre Spawn Trophy Bass In Heavy Cover - 6 lb 1 oz
In Washington state, any Largemouth Bass that is 6 lbs and up is considered a trophy fish. I caught this beautiful 6 lb 1 oz pig by taking a huge risk! With only 8 lb fluorocarbon, I dropped into a small gap between several sunken trees. This beast fought so hard, took out a ton of line and had me wrapped up all over the place. With a smooth drag, constant pressure, lots of focus and concentration to not horse her in, I was able to miraculously land this fish!
I caught this bass using my 6' 10 M Powell Diesel Spinning Rod paired with a Daiwa Tierra 2500 Spinning reel that was spooled up with 8 lb Berkley Vanish Fluorocarbon.
