Friends of Stewart Park ~ www.friendsofstewartpark.org
Did you know that Stewart Park, our lakefront gem, is being revitalized? On July 4, 2021, just 6 years from now, Stewart Park will celebrate its 100th anniversary. The Friends of Stewart Park, the City of Ithaca and many community organizations, businesses, and volunteers are coming together to make a variety of improvements, large and small, that will put a new shine on Ithaca’s favorite public park.
HISTORY
Renwick Park was constructed in the 1890’s. the Cascadilla School built the stunningly beautiful Cascadilla Boathouse, then the Ithaca Street Railway constructed the Picnic and Dance Pavilions with a lovely water tower and bandshell. The park was an incredibly popular destination for city residents and visitors to the many Cayuga lake resorts who visited Renwick Park by steamboat. After the trolley system closed, the Wharton Brothers leased the park and produced many popular silent films and shorts in Ithaca and in the park. The park became a city park in 1921 and was completed in its current form by the CCC in the early 1930s. since that time it has been enjoyed by city and county residents for picnics, parties, swimming, sports and just relaxing by the lake.
WHAT WE HAVE DONE LATELY
During the past 5 years the City and Chamber of Commerce have constructed the Cayuga Waterfront Trail linking the Farmers Market, Stewart Park and our County Visitor Center. The Friends of Stewart Park formed in 2011 and has restored the mayor Stewart memorial Flagpole garden, installed new entry plantings, constructed a lovely new trailhead, and place new and informative signs on key park buildings and overlooking the Renwick Wildwood. The City reconstructed the Tea Pavilion, true to its historic charm and brought back fireworks to the park. And the carousel horses are being repainted by two amazing local artists – christi sobel and julia john.
WHAT’S NEXT?
During the next 5 years, the Friends will take the lead in the development of a new and inclusive playground, that includes a new sprayplay area, areas for children young and old, and an elderplay area. With the city’s help, we will be working to restore the Picnic Pavilion, with new bathrooms coming this year, restored windows and doors, new lighting and painting, a new roof. With the Wharton Studio Museum, we will be working on developing a silent film museum facility with exhibits on this unique and significant historic use of the building, and including exhibits on the park natural and cultural history, a café, and special events rental space, which is always in high demand. There are many other projects planned to preserve park buildings and beautify the park landscape.

Syracuse to Watkins Glen/Ithaca Bike Trip 2017
Video summary of my recent bike tour that brought me from Syracuse to Ithaca, to the stunning Watkins Glen and then back to Ithaca! Other places I visited include Skaneateles, Filmore Glen, Taughannock Falls and the Ithaca Farmers Market. Along the way I met many cool and interesting people with whom I shared stories; I ate new foods, enjoyed awesome music and saw the beautiful Finger Lakes region of Central New York, with all its stunning natural beauties. People who complain about New York State being an awful place to live should visit this region; after seeing it they may have to bite their tongue!
The first day, I rode approximately 50 miles from Syracuse to Filmore Glen, a relatively younger, smaller glen than Watkins, but still plenty beautiful in it's own right. It is located in the small town of Moravia. I stopped for lunch in Skaneateles and saw the absolutely gorgeous Skaneateles Lake I stayed at Filmore Glen that night, then hiked it's breathtaking trails the next morning. On the second day, after hiking Filmore, I rode from Moravia to Ithaca (a little over 20 miles). After spending a few hours in the beautiful, alternative community of Ithaca, I rode another 5 miles to my camping spot, the stunning Taughannock Falls State Park. Most of the 5 miles, I rode on the Black Diamond Trail, built on the old Black Diamond Railbed. This beautiful trail is very well maintained and mostly goes through forests. This made the last five miles of the day very enjoyable, since I was able to slow down and enjoy the scenery. The trail also connects directly to Taughannock Falls State Park, so I was able to turn right into the park without having to cross any major roadways. After setting up camp for the second night in a row, I built a fire and looked at the stars. For day 3, I visted Taughannock Point, the southern tip of the park which boasts a beautiful view of Cayuga Lake. After eating the Falls Diner in nearby Trumansburg, I continued to Watkins Glen, although I went way out of my way so that I could explore another Rail Trail along the way; The Catherine Valley Trail. This trail was also beautiful, travelling mostly downhill from Milport to the Village of Watkins Glen. After riding up the huge hill into the park and to my campsite, I dropped off my luggage, secured my bike and walked the down to the trails. Nothing could prepare me for the sheer beauty of Watkins Glen; the further down the trails I went the more beautiful the scenery. Everytime I thought that there was no way I could find anything more beautiful and perfect, a turn of a corner would prove me wrong. The glen has numerous cascading waterfalls, hanging gardens and caves, with stone steps and walkways seemlessy sculpted into the natural structures of the Glen. All of this is nestled deep in an ancient canyon, carved by hundreds of thousands of years of erosion. After exploring this amazing park, I settled into my campsite for the night building another fire, where I cooked soup and potatoes and chatted with other fellow travelers who were also staying the night at the sprawling camping area at Watkins Glen State Park. On the fourth and final day of the tour, I ate breakfast at a local diner, then rode back to Ithaca, where I visited the local farmers market where I met some cool people, tried some amazing food, all with a soundtrack provided by a very talented local band known as Immortal Jellyfish. I then headed to the nearby Stewart Park where I met my brother, and we drove back to Syracuse. All in all it was a wonderful trip that I thoroughly enjoyed. I cannot wait for my next adventure!

Finger Lakes Park Minute: The Cliffs of Glen Alpha, Watkins Glen State Park
The first full section of the gorge at Watkins Glen State Park, called Glen Alpha in the old days, is a dramatic chasm with high cliffs, bisected by Glen Creek and its waterfalls. Huge joint fractures crease the cliffs and leave smooth, flat walls towering above you. Watkins Glen State Park is the oldest state park in the Finger Lakes region of New York State.

We are all being poisened ( see the list of toxins below ) and the sun is being blocked from shining ( also hard to miss around here is the chemical haze of sky garbage that is sprayed by the aerosol sprays of the jets .
If you are a government shill and tell me these are contrails - you will be BLOCKED & DELETED FOR MIS-INFORMATION & LIES .
these are not contrails ( NON EXSISTANT ) ,these are CHEMTRAILS- please do 30 minutes of research and then spread the word , our children are being poisened , we have lost 90 NINTY percent of the bat popultaion and 1/3 of the bee population. we are going to lose the ability to grow food in the highly acidic soil this poisen is leaving behind .here is a list of the poisens , please educate yourself & your loved ones and anyone that will listen . thanks for watching
Laboratory examination of those chemicals found that they were manufacturing wastes from military industry and biowarfare substances. In several laboratory analyses, the composition of chemtrails was revealed:
1. Aluminum barium 2. Aluminum Oxide 3. Bacilli and Molds 4. Pseudomonas Aeruginosa
5. Pseudomonas Florescens 6. Bacilli Amyloliquefaciens 7. Streptomyces
8. Enterobacteriaceae 9. Serratia Marcscens
10. Human white Blood Cells-A restrictor enzyme used in research labs to snip and combine DNA
11. Enterobacter Cloacal
12. Other Bacilli and other toxic molds capable of producing heart disease and meningitis as well as acute upper respiratory and gastrointestinal distress.
13. Carcinogen Zinc Cadmium Sulfide.
After chemtrails lingered, spread, covered entire skies and fell, reports of illnesses increased substantially, such as persistent hacking coughs, upper respiratory and intestinal distress, pneumonia, fatigue, lethargy, dizziness, disorientation, headaches, aching joints and muscles, nosebleeds, diarrhea, bloody stools, depression, anxiety, loss of bladder control, and nervous tics. Much of it is reported as flu and everyone but a few know that much of it is poisons dropped over our heads, inhaled, absorbed through our skins, and consumed in our food.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.

SUMMARY
=======
Ithaca is a city in the Finger Lakes region of New York. It is the seat of Tompkins County, as well as the largest community in the Ithaca–Tompkins County metropolitan area. This area contains the municipalities of the Town of Ithaca, the village of Cayuga Heights, and other towns and villages in Tompkins County. The city of Ithaca is located on the southern shore of Cayuga Lake, in Central New York, about 45 miles (72 km) south-west of Syracuse. It is named after the Greek island of Ithaca. Additionally, Ithaca is located 247 miles (398 km) southeast of Toronto, and 223 miles (359 km) northwest of New York City.
Ithaca is home to Cornell University, an Ivy League school of over 20,000 students, most of whom study at its local campus. In addition, Ithaca College is a private, nonsectarian, liberal arts college of over 7,000 students, located just south of the city in the Town of Ithaca, adding to the area's college town atmosphere. Nearby is Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3). These three colleges bring tens of thousands of students, who increase Ithaca's seasonal population during the school year. The city's voters are notably more liberal than those in the remainder of Tompkins County or in upstate New York, generally voting for Democratic Party candidates.
As of 2010, the city's population was 30,014. A 2017 census estimate stated the population was 31,006.
Namgyal Monastery in Ithaca is the North American seat of Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama.

entitled Saved from the Wrecking Ball a discussion on the Clinton House, with Fred Schwartz, Michael Bacon, Victoria Romanoff, Carol Sisler, and Mike Richardson. the program is about the effort it took to save the Ithaca landmark. It was a packed house so I shot about 45 minutes of the discussion, it was also recorded for showing by Pegasus Channel 13. This is part 1 of 3, which shows some of setup taking place and introductory commentary and the start of the program.

More than 11,000 jam Seminole Campus to hear President Obama
September 8, 2012 by newsspc
President Obama at SPC's Seminole Campus Saturday, Sept. 8
The once-in-a-lifetime opportunity did not disappoint. President Barack Obama's visit to the Seminole Campus of St. Petersburg College drew more than 11,000 enthusiastic supporters on Saturday, under a partly cloudy but forgiving sky.
In a repeat performance of his Thursday night acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention, Obama touted the value of education, a cause he has supported through investments in job training and community colleges.
Education is the gateway of opportunity, Obama said. It was for Michelle and me. ... Millions of students are spending less on their education, including students here because we finally took on a system that wasted billions of taxpayer dollars on banks and lenders.
Manuel Martinez, Student Government President for the Seminole Campus, was lucky enough to get a personal introduction to the Commander in Chief.
It was incredible: one day I woke up and now I'm meeting the President, said Martinez, who greeted Obama as he walked through the University Partnership Building. I got to shake his hand. It was an honor.
Obama went on to say about his opponent Mitt Romney in the Nov. 6 Presidential election: You can gut education like these other folks are recommending or you can choose your future if you're willing to move forward with us.
Judging from the reaction of those behind him shaking blue signs that read forward, it was obvious the crowd was with him. What was also obvious was the level of people's dedication to get a glimpse of a sitting president.
Despite a 30-second rain shower around 10 a.m., the lines of people waiting to pass through security and into the event snaked around the campus Library, over to the Seminole Recreation Center and down 113th St. The throngs, who took to parking on side streets in surrounding neighborhoods and walking to the campus, were so immense at one point that an announcement was made that anyone parking on 113th Street would be towed.
The Florida heat also took its tolls on some in the crowd, who stood on the field near the campus' Nature Park for more than two hours to hear Obama's 30-minute speech. More than a dozen people were treated at the scene for heat exhaustion, begrudgingly giving up their spots close to the president.
Their shirts drenched with sweat and their smiles wide, college officials were beaming with pride, however, about being chosen to host the President.
It's a wonderful day for the college, said SPC President Bill Law. All of us feel very proud when the eyes of America and the world are on us.
It was a fabulous event, said Seminole Provost Jim Olliver. It was a huge crowd with a lot of students in the audience. When tickets were first distributed, it was amazing to see so many students show up to get them.
SPC student Joy Gann, Vice President of the Seminole Campus Student Government Association, was just ecstatic to be in the presence of someone who runs the country.
SPC student Samantha Bergamo, who studies digital animation on the Seminole Campus, echoed the sentiments of many when she said: The most amazing part was my dad called me afterwards and said I'm the first person in the family to see the president in person. No one else has ever seen the President in person. You had to get that ticket.
This is Maine?! Wow! Lighthouses, Forts, & Casco Bay!
