Fort Worth is in the Prairies and Lakes region of Texas. It is part of the Dallas/Fort Worth-Arlington metroplex. Sometimes referred to as Cowtown, it is by far closer to its cowboy roots than neighboring Dallas.
Fort Worth grew from a military camp established at the close of the Mexican War by Gen. Winfield Scott, and named for Gen. William Jenkins Worth who fought in the war. Forty-two men of Company F, 2nd Dragoons, established the camp on June 6, 1849. The Fort Worth to Yuma, AZ, stage line was established in 1850. The city became the seat of Tarrant County 1860, and after the Civil War, it became a major shipping and supply depot for cattlemen.
'The Fort Worth Herd' - Stockyards National Historic District
The Fort Worth Herd
The Old West comes to life before your eyes during the Fort Worth Herd’s twice-daily cattle drive. Genuine Texas cowhands drive a herd of Texas longhorns down Exchange Avenue in the Stockyards National Historic District every day at 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Every detail of the cattle drive—from the saddles and chaps to the boots and hats – is authentic and historically true.

Fort Worth Stockyards: Wall Street of the West
A short slideshow/video from our family fun day at the Stockyards in Fort Worth, Texas. The Fort Worth Livestock Exchange was once the Wall Street of the West. Today, visitors can get a taste of what life was like back in the day of the great cattle drives. Twice every day, weather permitting, real cowboys in traditional dress symbolically drive a herd of longhorn cattle down Exchange Street. There are many other family oriented activities as well. We had a great time and enjoyed our visit, hope you enjoy the video! Thanks for watching!

Grapevine (TX) Vintage Railroad -- Turntable at Fort Worth Stockyards
This is video from 20 June 2009 as the GVRR diesel engine is turned around in preparation for the afternoon return trip from Forth Worth to Grapevine. (Note the mechanical bull ride in progress at the start of the video.)
The Grapevine Vintage Railroad travels along the historic Cotton Belt Route between Grapevine and the Fort Worth Stockyards. The Railroad is serviced by two vintage locomotives - Puffy the 1896 steam locomotive, which is the oldest continuously operating steam engine in the South, and a 1953 GP-7 diesel locomotive. Passengers enjoy riding in authentic 1920s and 1930s Victorian-style coaches as they take a step back in time and experience train travel as it was in the glory days of the expanding west. (

Fort Worth Texas Stock Yards | Fort Worth Herd | RV Life
We were able to stay another day in Roanoke Texas and spend time with Mark and Janelle. They were so kind enough to take to Fort Worth Texas and visit the Stock Yards so we could see the Fort Worth Herd.
Every day at 11:30am and 4pm they walk a herd of longhorns through the street. It is an amazing thing to witness, so many people gather to see it every day.
Another great thing about the Stock Yards is beer on the go. As long as you are on the brick road you can drink beer in the streets but you can not go into another establishment with it. That is so cool.

The history of Fort Worth, Texas, in the United States is closely intertwined with that of northern Texas and the Texan frontier. From its early history as an outpost and a barrier against Native American threats, to its later days as a booming cattle town, to modern times as a corporate center, the city has changed dramatically, although it still preserves much of its heritage in its modern culture.

[Fort Worth Texas] Stockyards & Water Gardens with 3boys travel vlog 달라스, 포트워스 텍사스 가족여행- 소몰이, 워터가든
#fortworthtrip #텍사스여행 #미국이민
Our Korean family's first destination for 2018 summer vacation was to Fort Worth Texas. We wanted to see a glimpse of old wild west and the cowboy glory. Our 3 boys were mesmerized by the glamour of cattle drive, and also did some horse riding. We tried Texan steak and bbq. Water Gardens in downtown Fort Worth offered us the chic side of the city. This city oasis was cool enough to wash away the tiredness from traveling. Parenting is hard, but because of these precious moments, we keep on going. here's our travel vlog.

Old 1930's Train Station in Fort Worth Texas @ Pacific Railway
I did a photo shot today for a loft located in the old Texas and Pacific Railway opened on October 25, 1931.
What was really neat was that it is still an active train station. I only had 30 minutes to get a few shots so I plan to go back and get more at a later date. If you are ever in the Fort Worth area, this place is worth visiting.
There is a restaurant in the building but I did not get a chance to check it out.
