DJ BIO's
---------------------------GRAEME PARK------------------------
The story of DJ Graeme Park really mirrors the story of the evolution of dance music and club culture itself. Graeme found himself working in a Nottingham record shop called Selectadisc in the early 1980s, when the very first house records began to filter through from Chicago, Detroit and New York. When the shop’s owner opened a nightclub, it was only natural he should turn to Graeme to select the discs. Determined to showcase this new style of music, his reputation as a house pioneer soon brought him to the attention of Mike Pickering at the Haçienda in Manchester, who asked him to cover for him while he went on holiday in 1988. Simply put, there was no-one else in the country who could do the job. The Summer of Love followed, and Parky quickly became one of the biggest names on the emerging dance scene. Aside from his eight year residency at The Haç, he was one of the first British DJs to play places like Australia, South America, the USA, Asia and beyond as well as producing and remixing tracks for the dancefloor, including The Brand New Heavies, Inner City, Eric B & Rakim, New Order, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and more.

Steve was the first DJ ever to play a House record in Leeds, this was in the last half of the 1980s, and at the time when R&B and Hip-Hop was king, Steve took a chance and bought a House record 'Steve 'Silk' Hurley - Jack your body' and played it in one of his R&B sets. This was 2 years before the record was released in the UK, Steve bought it on a USA import.

Ghost of ~Garstang ,Lancashire, England.
Greenhalgh Castle is a castle, now ruined, near the town of Garstang .
Thomas Stanley, 1st Earl of Derby had the castle built in 1490 to provide defence for his estates around Garstang. The land on which the castle was built is said to be a gift to Stanley from his stepson Henry Tudor for his assistance in defeating Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth.
The castle stood on a small area of raised ground, about 35 yards (32 m) square and was rectangular with towers 24 yards (22 m) square at each corner. It was constructed of rubble and sandstone with angle quoins. The entrance was to the east on higher ground and there was probably a moat in the lower ground surrounding the castle.
During the English Civil War the castle was garrisoned by James Stanley, 7th Earl of Derby in support of Charles I. It was one of the last two Royalist strongholds in Lancashire to succumb following a bitter siege during 1644/45 by Oliver Cromwell's forces. The other was Lathom. The garrison at Greenhalgh Castle eventually surrendered in May 1645 provisional on their being granted safe conduct to return to their homes unharmed. Thereafter, demolition teams partially destroyed the castle to ensure that it could not be used again for military purposes. Following continued deterioration of the ruins, the only remain of the original four towers is the lower portion of one. Many of the local farmhouses, including the neighbouring Castle Farm which was built in the 17th century, have incorporated the stones from the castle ruins into their buildings
During the Siege of Greenhalgh, a soldier killed his wife, from whom he was estranged, at Gubberford Bridge. It is said that this bridge is known for its Boggart; the ghost of the murdered woman. In years gone by she would appear to unwary horsemen as a cloaked woman looking for a lift. Only when mounted behind a rider would she reveal herself to be nothing but a skeleton. She was said to be responsible for the deaths and injuries of several terrified riders.
In more recent times, a humble postman was walking his usual round when he found himself staring into the face of a skeletal figure – he dropped his letters and ran. The country lane of this visitation is not precisely known, but perhaps it was a modern appearance of the Boggart of Gubberford Bridge?
St Helen's was the parish church of Garstang; today, as Garstang is split into more than one ecclesiastical parish, St Helen's parish is Garstang St Helen (Churchtown). It is in the Diocese of Blackburn. It has been designated a Grade I listed building by English Heritage. St Helen's is known as the cathedral of The Fylde.
is situated close to the banks of the River Wyre. Historically, the village of Churchtown (once known as Kirkland) was part of the ecclesiastical parish of Garstang, with St Helen's as the parish church. The oldest parts of the church date from the 13th centurya lepers' window or squint;
a grave marker for the village's only victim of the Black Plague;
a large rafter, once known as the new beam, supposedly presented to the parish by King Henry VIII at the time of the Reformation.
The circular churchyard with several yew trees point to its original use as a Druid temple. It was believed by some that the area may have been the site where Christian missionaries from Ireland first set foot in Lancashire at the end of the navigational portion of the River Wyre which flows to the Irish Sea some 14 miles away...

Chinese bank helps fund UK bioscience research

Chinese and British researchers will work together to bring medical breakthroughs to the market. CCTV's Dan Whitehead reports from London.
HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT AND WESTMINSTER IN THE 1960's THE HOUSE OF LORDS.
The Palace of Westminster, also known as the Houses of Parliament or Westminster Palace, is the meeting place of the two houses of the Parliament of the United Kingdom—the House of Lords and the House of Commons. It lies on the north bank of the River Thames note in the heart of the London borough of the City of Westminster, close to the historic Westminster Abbey and the government buildings of Whitehall and Downing Street. The name may refer to either of two structures: the Old Palace, a medieval building complex, most of which burned in 1834, and its replacement New Palace that stands today. For ceremonial purposes, the palace retains its original style and status as a royal residence.

Tim Whitehead - Turner and the Thames: Waterloo Bridge from Blackfriars
In 2009, Tim Whitehead was Artist in Residence at Tate Britain, where he closely researched Turner's 'Colour Beginnings' watercolour sketches, drawing links between the process of improvisation and composition, and Turner's approach to the canvas.
Now, especially for the EFG London Jazz Festival and in celebration of Turner's lifelong love of the great river, Tim has chosen eight locations along The Thames from which Turner has painted the River and filmed his improvisations. These spontaneous recordings will go on to form the templates of Tim's finished pieces and will culminate in two free Festival performances with his quartet; both on Sat 23 Nov.

The Shed Sessions - 'Shining Again'
'Shining Again' is the third video from the shed sessions - a series of live recordings filmed at the shed - a small studio on the banks of the river Avon in Bath, England.
The shed sessions are unplanned, relaxed sessions around the fire with a few beers and hotdogs. Everything is recorded using just three microphones.
Shining again was written by Marc Ford and appears on his debut solo album, 'It's About Time'. Marc's most recent release, Holy Ghost, was mixed and partly recorded at the shed, so it was an absolute pleasure to have him return to make this video. The Shed Sessions have always relied on good people having a good time, and Marc is a dear and much loved friend here at the shed. It was a real pleasure to make this video and I hope you enjoy it also.
Musicians:
Marc Ford - Guitar, Vocals
Andy Lowe - Bass
Dan Moore - Synth
Stew Jackson - Guitar, Vocals
Louis Lewis-Smith - Guitar
South Western Ambulance Service - Siren

SHINE: Sat 23 June 12 | K-KLASS ft BOBBI | ALLISTER WHITEHEAD | GALLERY DJ's | Leeds Warehouse
After a successful Shine launch with K-Klass at a venue which only holds 500 people, disappointment landed on those turned away, yet demand was still high enough to bring another live performance from K-Klass back to Leeds. So Shine decided to wait for the right size venue, that being The Warehouse, Leeds' answer to The Hacienda. Original dance clubs hosting House Music in the North since the late 80's, Summer Of Love years.
★ K-KLASS ft BOBBI
K-Klass last performed at The Warehouse in 1990 but on their return this time they will be performing and playing an Hacienda DJ set which they'd play back in the day at the legendary club in Manchester, so where else in Leeds would be better to present their talents other than The Warehouse, the '55th Best Club In The World, 2012 ' a recent poll by DJ Mag.
K-Klass will also feature Bobbi, the voice behind their monster chart hit's of the early 90's... Let Me Show You & Rhythm Is A Mystery, of which Bobbi will perform, through The Warehouse's recently fitted Funktion One DanceStack soundsystem, bringing nothing but an excellent sound upon the ears with musical vibrations throughout your body, from tip to toe. Exciting lights, lazors, strobes & smoke machines, will also be adding to the ecstatic atmosphere making sure the night takes off in true party style!!
★ ALLISTER WHITEHEAD
In 1987, Allister Whitehead started his DJ career & eventually took up residency in his home town of Nottingham at Koolkat, where he could often be seen playing Saturday nights next to the ubiquitous Graeme Park. Then his big break came after Mike Pickering of M People asked Allister to cover his DJing slot at the Hacienda while he toured with the group. On the strength of this Allister was offered a residency.
Allister went on to achieve cult status at Golden, voted club of the year in 1993. Setting the stage for a residency at Cream. Growing from strength to strength he landed nationwide status with slots at Ministry of Sound, Gatecrasher proving his worth as a premier league DJ.
Now established as an household name worldwide, armed with a Gold selling Fantazia Album 'The House Collection Volume 3' the biggest selling compilation for DJ's at that time. The floodgates then opened & a new form of compiled dance albums took to dominating sales. Since then, he achieved 3 more Gold and 2 more Silver albums with further compilations for Fantazia and Ministry of Sound.
Nowadays Allister is one of the four biggest DJ's on the UK House scene along with Danny Rampling, Graeme Park and CJ Mackintosh & can be just about seen behind the decks at most clubs throughout the world.
It's now that time for Shine to bring Allister Whitehead's Hacienda sounds, for the very first time to The Warehouse in his true form like never before!!
★ GALLERY DJ's
Steve Luigi the creator of legend Leeds club/brand The Gallery, is no novice when it comes to DJaying & playing air punching club anthems. The past record shop owner & passionate vinyl collector since his Northern Soul days in the 70's, went on to make history in the city of Leeds with his successful early 90's club night at The Gallery & it's from there where Steve, to this day has become widely known.
At The Warehouse in room 2, Steve will be accompanied on the decks by 2 more Gallery DJ's, Carl Whitehead & Mark Holliday, bringing to a party vibe, nothing but uplifting vocal house piano classics!!
It's blatantly obvious that The Warehouse with Shine on Saturday 23rd of June is definitely the place to be for a clued up music crowd on the dance scene in Leeds, so get yourselves along & make sure you don't miss out on this one!!

We've come to find my daughter, Kate.
(Q: What do you think you'll find here)
We've no idea. It's just pure speculation at the moment. What we're trying to do is collect the facts from the fiction

There are several things that could have happened. I don't think it's helpful to speculate. One thing I will say is that, clearly, after almost two months, there are significant concerns for her safety and welfare but as to what's exactly happened to her, I don't know at this moment in time.

STORYLINE:
The parents of a missing British woman have travelled to the Indonesian resort island of Bali to help in the search for their daughter.
35-year-old Kate Osborne disappeared two months ago along with her Peruvian boyfriend.
On Tuesday, British police began retracing the last known steps of the missing couple. Working alongside Balinese police, two British detectives searched though Kate's old house looking for clues to her disappearance.
Kate's bank account has not been touched since her disappearance, she hasn't not been in contact with her parents and she took none of her personal belongings with her.
Her parents have created a website which they hope will help in the search for their daughter.
Kate, from Carlisle, Cumbria, in northern England, was working as a translator for aid groups on the island.
She has not been seen since 18 April and her car was found at Bali's international airport on 21 April.
Her Peruvian boyfriend Jose Henricci, who has been described as a professional surfer, also vanished at the same time.
