RLUK17 | Role of research libraries in a technological future - Masud Khokhar, Lancaster University
THE ROLE OF RESEARCH LIBRARIES IN A TECHNOLOGICAL FUTURE
Research Libraries have always responded well to the wide-ranging challenges that have come our way, often driven by external mandates or by ourselves as the custodians of knowledge. One example of such a challenge is the adoption of scholarly communications agenda by the Library, usually acting as the lead for Open Access and Research Data initiatives for the institution. We should celebrate our role in supporting open science, but we should also question if we are genuinely ready for the future? Are we capable of responding to the technological challenges of the future?
-------------
RLUK is a consortium of 37 of the major research libraries in the UK and Ireland, whose purpose is to shape the research library agenda and contribute to the wider knowledge economy through innovative projects and services that add value and impact to the process of research and researcher-training.
The RLUK Conference is an annual event, bringing together Directors, Senior Library Managers and key thought leaders from across the national and international HE and research sectors.

LIVE Q&A with Ralph Ellis on his latest book: The Grail Cypher A radical reassessment of Arthu...
In a recent groundbreaking 4 part youtube series we discussed the real story of King Arthur with Ralph Ellis and Michael Tsarion. This upcoming live Q&A on Dec 1st 2015 will be an interactve live chat with Ralph to help answer the many questions pouring in as a result of the book and the youtube series. This helps give a fresh look at biblical history, astrology, and symbolism. Are you willing to have your view of Arthurian, British and Christian history challenged? Are you ready to accept the esoteric mysteries and heresies of the Knights Templar? Once we understand that Jesus and Arthur shared a common history, the rest of Arthurian legend starts to fall into place. So join Ralph on an extraordinary tour of Arthurian history, much of which you did not even know existed: Jesus’ son was the king of Palmyra; St. Peter was the Guardian of the Holy Grail; Pompey the Great and the pirates of Gibraltar; Secrets of Mithras and the bull of Taurus; King Arthur’s battle with Vespasian; The Roman creation of Christianity; The Holy Grail was brought to Earth by aliens; Sir Galahad dressed as a woman; The burial of Jesus-Arthur at Stonehenge; tons more. These are all elements of the Arthurian chronicles that have remained unexplored and unexplained until now. But how can we comprehend the true history of King Arthur if we have not considered the entire corpus of this labyrinthine story? If we bring all these many diverse strands together, and decipher their true meaning, they explain a great deal about the history of Europe, Britain and Christianity.
