CHAMPAGNE DAY – Epernay, France Champagne Tour
YAY! It’s champagne day!
Today, we splurged on an all-day champagne tour with France Bubbles Tour. We used this same tour company for a champagne tour in Reims, France during our honeymoon. But, this time we are touring Epernay, France!
Throughout the day, we stopped at three different champagne houses to taste many of their champagnes, learn about their history and explore their facilities & vineyards.
We also had the chance to stop in Hautvillers, which is a small, but charming town near Epernay. The Hautvillers Abbey is where Dom Perignon spent the majority of his time and it’s his burial place.
We had so much fun on this tour and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great experience in Epernay or Reims.
Enjoy the video and we’ll see you in our next one as we keep GOING PLACES!

MOST EXPENSIVE STREET IN THE WORLD | EXPLORING CHAMPAGNE REIMS FRANCE
We were surprised to find the most expensive street in the world in the Champagne region around Reims France.
Reims is a city in France close to Paris, so a perfect side-trip from Paris. Reims in North-Eastern France was a major city during the Roman Empire. Later it became a traditional site for the crowning of Kings. Moreover, many of the largest champagne-producing houses have their headquarters here - in fact, champagne ages in the many caves and tunnels under the city.

In this video we explore areas around Reims, go on a Champagne tasting and cave tour as well as the Notre Dame Cathedral. Notre-Dame de Reims (Our Lady of Reims) is a Roman Catholic church in Reims, France. It is the seat of the Archdiocese of Reims, where the kings of France were crowned. The cathedral replaced an older church, destroyed by fire in 1211, that was built on the site of the basilica where Clovis was baptized by Saint Remi, bishop of Reims, in AD 496. That original structure had itself been erected on the site of some Roman baths. A major tourism destination, the cathedral receives about one million visitors annually.

Located at 12 Rue du Temple, Reims, France, Veuve Clicquot is recognized as the oldest ‘modern’ champagne houses. Founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot-Mulron, Veuve Clicquot is credited with making champagne the wine of choice for the bourgeoisie and royalty. The 1811 Comet Vintage of Veuve Clicquot is recognized as the first modern champagne vintage.
The son of Philippe Clicquot-Mulron married Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin in 1798. He died in 1805 leaving his bride in charge of the Company. Madame Clicquot, the first woman to take over a champagne house, continued the innovations in champagne production instituted by her Father-In-Law and Husband. She is credited with the biggest breakthrough in champagne production that led to its mass production, the rising rack. The Veuve Clicquot is sad to have made the first rosé champagne, and Madame Clicquot receives the accolades for perfecting it.
Madame Clicquot working in tandem with her cellar master, Antoine de Muller, immersed herself in the production of champagne and was a marketing expert in her time. She saw to it that the royal courts throughout Europe had access to her champagnes making it a sought-after wine across the continent. To this day Veuve Clicquot is distinguished by its yellow label, the same label that kings and queens recognized.
In 1987 the Veuve Clicquot brand of quality champagne was purchased by the Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy Group.

Reims, Grand Est region France| Tour of Champagne region of France, reims vineyards,Notre Dame Reims
Reims is located to the northeast of Paris in the Grand Est region France. It is also known as the Champagne region of France. You are greeted with Reims wineries & Reims vineyards as soon as you enter Reims. The wineries of Reims & the vineyards of Reims serves both the small as well as large Champagnes & wine producing factories/wineries. We did a Champagne tour of Mumm Reims which is a big wine & Champagne producing company.. There is also a very popular 15th century Reims Cathedral built on lines of the Notre-Dame in Paris known as the Cathedral Notre Dame Reims. This would conclude our journey to the Champagne region of France or Reims, Grand Est region France.

Champagne Tasting in France with Taittinger
When in Reims, you MUST take the tour of the Taittinger caves and then go enjoy a few glasses of champagne on your own. Reims is a quick 45 minute train ride from Paris and therefore, is the perfect day trip for anyone wanting to explore outside of Paris for a day. Taittinger is one of the few family large owned champagne houses left in Reims and I cannot recommend it enough!
Taittinger Champagne tasting is a must do when in the Champagne region!
You can book a group or private tour of the Taittinger cellars here
