Thrillist - Ale House at Amato's - Denver, CO
Helmed by a clan that's supplied Denver with statues since 1922, this 400-seat tribute to Colorado craft beers (opened in partnership with Breckenridge Brewery) rocks an exposed beam ceiling, copious wood detailing, and a patio with excellent city views, all in the former home of their statute shop -- fitting, as the longer you spend here, the more chiseled everyone will look. 35 of the 40 beers on tap are brewed in-state, including 13 from Breck itself (highlighted by their 471 IPA and the Stranahan's whiskey barrel-aged TWENTY), plus Avery's Salvation Belgian Strong Golden Ale, Left Hand's ginger-heavy Good Ju Ju, and a Great American Beer Fest Gold Medal-winning German-style lager from Wynkoop called the B3K, which just like B2K, does indeed have a Lil' Fizz. Should you want to pair your beer with something to eat, they've got handcrafted pub fare like peach habanero/ Gorgonzola-dressed chicken wings, the 16th Street Burger with onion strings/ horseradish cream cheese, a wild boar or elk Bangers & Mashers with gravy made from Breck's Thunder Stout, or lobster-stuffed shrimp with creamy grits topped with a Beer-naise, which makes it doubly difficult for people trying to get off the sauce.

Carving on Cannabis with a Snowboard Gold Medalist
In this episode of FUEL, Canadian Olympic Snowboarder Ross Rebagliati embraces his infamous past and embarks on a new venture.
Ross Rebagliati was once embroiled in unchartered controversy at the 1998 Olympics in Nagano where he won gold and then tested positive for cannabis in the first-ever snowboarding giant slalom event. In the end, there was no infraction of the rules and his gold medal was reinstated.
Fast-forward to today where cannabis culture and legislation has drastically changed; Ross is now the go-to guy for cannabis in athletics. He openly helms a thriving cannabis company, which is a direct nod to his past: Ross’ Gold. Ross whisks us around Whistler showing us how he’s fully embraced and integrated cannabis into his life and diet. Consuming cannabis helps to fuel his body by increasing his appetite, essentially giving him the Munchies and enabling him to consume the calories he needs to actively perform and function as a faster and stronger athlete.
If you do have cannabis, make sure you do have food nearby because you’re going to feel hungry! –Ross Rebagliati

Alaska Fire Camp
BLM Alaska Fire Service Chena Interagency Hotshot Max Ryan gives a tour of the crew’s fire camp on Aug. 1, 2019 on the Hadweenzic River Fire in the Cornucopia Complex about 20 miles northeast of Beaver in this video.
While fire camps in rural Alaska can be similar to remote fires in the Lower 48, they have their own special concerns and qualities. Morning operational briefings are broadcasted over hand-held radios. Every one gathers underneath at big yellow tarp for breakfast in the morning and dinner before bedtime. The coffee pot hangs from a tripod over a campfire in the morning, where dinner is cooked later that day. It’s a place to relax after a long day on the fireline. It can be quiet with the exception of the crackle of a hand-held radio and an occasional chatter between firefighters.
Because there are no facilities nearby, fire camps need to be self-sufficient. Camps are based on distance to fires and easy access for helicopters to deliver people and supplies. There is a pantry area created to store fresh food with an assortment of canned goods, vegetables, meats, cheeses, tortillas and bread. A tundra refrigerator is a hole dug down to the permafrost and covered with a makeshift lid to keep perishable goods cool for several days. Wash basins and kitchen areas are fashioned by fresh food boxes and empty cubies – 5-gallon containers used to hold drinking and cooking water. Each crew digs its own latrine.
Some camps can get elaborate with furniture fashioned out of spruce or birch trees.
A big concern is the possibility the camps will attract bears. Steps are taken to make sure bears don’t get accustomed to firefighter camps and the food that is associated with them. In some places, crews build caches to keep food out of reach or even install an electric bear fence.
Firefighters get creative when cooking food on fires in remote Alaska fire camps. There's no grocery store nearby nor is someone else brought in to cook. In the first few days, meals ready to eat, or MREs, are the staple. If the incident will last more than three days, firefighters order fresh food that if often delivered by paracargo drops from an airplane or brought in by helicopter. This is an exciting time on a fire, especially after a few days of eating MREs. Inside these boxes are an assortment of food such as oranges, apples, onions, potatoes, butter, tortillas, peanut butter and jelly, ham and cheese, loaves of bread, canned vegetables and fruit and refried beans, eggs and cooked bacon to name a few. There's even steak that is often cooked by sticking on the end of the stick and propping over a fire.
Experienced Alaskan firefighters can whip up a breakfast or dinner over hot coals in no time. And there's usually a pot of coffee hanging over the fire. Lunch is usually put together in the morning and brought out on the line to eat later. There's a bit of a learning curve for firefighters coming from the Lower 48. The Redmond Interagency Hotshot Crew from Oregon caught on quickly. They utilized the camp facilities at Camp Nashii on the Yukon River to cook breakfast and dinner while assigned to the Hadweenzic River Fire northeast of Beaver as firefighters Kaleigh Krings, Jesse Fenno and Adam Zais explain in a video .
The last thing the BLM Alaska Fire Service Alaska Handy Dandy Firefighting Field Guide says about Alaska Fire Camp is “Don’t complain about the mosquitoes or the rain.”

FIVE THINGS ABOUT COLORADO KIDNAPPING LAWS
Most Coloradans know that kidnapping is the illegal taking of another person. But there is a lot more to understand about this crime, including these five facts as spelled out in C.R.S. 18-3-301 and 18-3-302:
1. Colorado law divides kidnapping into two degrees. The main difference is that first-degree kidnapping requires the intent to secure a ransom or other concession.
2. Kidnapping is different from the crime of false imprisonment. Both involve unlawfully detaining someone, but unlike kidnapping, false imprisonment involves no physical movement (called “asportation”) of the victim.
3. Parents can be charged with kidnapping their own child for either taking their child out of state in violation of a court order or without the other parent’s consent, or by wrongfully retaining the child when they are supposed to return the child to the other parent.
4. Colorado law classifies kidnapping as an “extraordinary risk” crime. This means the maximum sentence for kidnapping is anywhere from two to four years longer than for other felonies in the same class.
5. If an alleged kidnapper possessed a deadly weapon or caused serious bodily injury, then Colorado law classifies the kidnapping as a “crime of violence.” And this also increases the penalties that the defendant would face.

CCTV footage which shows bright 'UFO' in Australian sky goes viral
CCTV footage of what appears to be a floating UFO was spotted by police officers in the resort town of Broome, Western Australia, over the weekend. The video the CCTV footage was filmed during a powerful thunderstorm that hit the city.
While some Twitter users were convinced that this was proof of alien life, others suggested it was just a lens flare from the headlights of the car seen in the bottom right corner of the screen. Report by Louee Dessent-Jackson.
