The Swedenborg Chapel Incident (Harvard Black Mass Incident 2014)
On May 12, 2014 @ 8:30 pm, the Harvard Extension School affiliated Cultural Studies Club had planned on showing a satanic 'black mass' reenactment at a pub in the basement of Memorial Hall at Harvard University. The black mass was cancel due to public outrage.
Across the street from this building is the Swedenborg Chapel. A prayer service was schedule for that evening at around 9pm. I believe it was held in solidarity against the black mass reenactment.
NOTE: a prayer service was also held at St. Paul's Church on the side of Harvard Yard. It believe it started at 7pm.
(The following was reported to me. I did not witness this.)
Sometime after 9pm, two seemingly pro-satanist men entered the Swedenborg Chapel. The two men were allowed to enter church since it was an open service. Then one of the men went-up to a female guitarist, took her guitar and the two then started shouting at the people in the church.
At around this time, I was moving towards the chapel to see what was going on inside. As I approached the chapel, I saw a commotion, so I began filming.
A few men from the chapel threw-out the two pro-satanist men. The two men then shouted obscenities back at the chapel from the road. This lured a man from the chapel to play a horn back at them. (He played it to silence their chants.)
The Harvard Police then approached the men to tone down their language. One of the officers confiscated something from one of the men without incident.
In the end, I think the two men were just looking for attention.
At the end of the video is a lady promoting a religion based on the Egyptian God of War.
------------------
Epilogue: From what I heard, the Middle East Nightclub and Bar offered to host the event after learning that it was canceled. However, they later withdrew their offer. (I guess they did not want the bad press.)
Some private club or meeting space above the Hong Kong Restaurant offered their space to host the event. But by this time, the Cultural Studies Club had withdrew their support of the event. My guess is that this event was attended by the out-of-town pro-satanists that came to show their support for the event. (I personally observed some of them entering this space.)

Remembering Billy Ruane
Stolen from the Globe. Credited at end of story.
Song By Varsity Drag, used without permission.
The life force that is music coursed through Billy Ruane as he danced to band after band in club after club, shirt unbuttoned to nearly his navel, swept-back hair tousling to the beat, the beer in his hand never spilling a drop.
It was athletic, acrobatic -- frenzied moves that no one but Billy could execute, said Pat McGrath of West Roxbury, a long-time friend who helped manage Mr. Ruane's financial affairs. I've seen pictures of him in various states of levitation that defy physics and gravity.
More than just a fan extraordinaire, Mr. Ruane was a music promoter and impresario who elevated the alternative rock scene. With exhaustive dedication, he booked bands into Cambridge clubs and promoted musicians. At shows, he bought armloads of their CDs, which he gave away with evangelizing fervor.
Everyone wanted Billy Ruane's seal of approval, said guitarist Rich Gilbert, who played with several key Boston bands and now lives in Nashville. I hate to use this word, but there was real credibility involved. If Billy Ruane supported you, you felt like you were doing something artistically meaningful.
As a teenager in the 1970s, Mr. Ruane began hanging out at the Rathskeller, the seminal Kenmore Square club affectionately known as the Rat.
He wrote himself into Greater Boston's music history in 1987 while planning his 30th birthday party, a multi-band extravaganza that promised to overflow available club space in Cambridge's Central Square. Mr. Ruane persuaded the owners of the Middle East restaurant to use their stage space for live music that night, giving birth to one of the region's most important venues.
Everywhere Mr. Ruane went, his presence was unforgettable.
I had this notion of this professor of anarchy in the Boston rock scene, said Alex Ross, a music critic for The New Yorker who was a Harvard student when he encountered Mr. Ruane in clubs. Even when he seemed to be out of his mind, it was all about the music. It was kind of this totally unchecked, unrestrained enthusiasm for what he loved.
He described himself as a 'courtier to the musicians,' McGrath said. What Billy said about musicians was, 'Man evolved up to a point, but some people kept evolving, and they're the musicians.' He felt like musicians were a more evolved species than mere mortals.
In the presence of music he loved, Mr. Ruane would react with his entire being, Gilbert said. He was this physical whirling dervish of appreciation in the club. You could have a room where everyone was standing stock still and quiet, and Billy would be gesturing and gyrating enthusiastically.
Untucked shirttails make some look unkempt, but it was fashionable for him, he made it work, Gilbert said. He was quite a dapper man. He had tousled hair that people spend $200 to get it that way, but they don't realize it comes from the soul. Billy had so much soul.
For a time, Mr. Ruane helped put together concerts in the state's prisons, including a show in Walpole.
It was a pretty intense scene, but Billy was dancing fearlessly in the aisles, said Lilli Dennison, who booked and promoted shows in Boston and Cambridge before moving to Seattle. The inmates were calling him David Bowie and giving him standing ovations. The guards had to calm him down, not the inmates.
When the music stopped and it was time to go home, Mr. Ruane would plant wet kisses all around, his unshaven scruff marking the territory of friendship.
At the end of the night, he'd always tell you he loved you, Beard said, and you always believed it.

Eminem & Royce 5'9 - Never Before Seen Concert - 1999
Extremely rare and early footage of Eminem with guest Royce 5'9 (aka Bad Meets Evil) on February 16, 1999 at The Middle East in Cambridge, MA, USA promoting The Slim Shady LP.
Watch mid-video as my camera battery runs out, so I have to plug it in... and the power goes out on the turntables due to too much power being drawn during his biggest song to date! This happened not once, but twice and to say Eminem was pissed is an understatement. Luckily, he never knew who did it until now! Sorry Marshall. To piss Eminem off even more, someone in the crowd tells him Cage is there which is right when the beef between these two artists was at its peak - watch his reaction!
More random highlights include a girl jumping up on stage and taking off her shirt (tossed out), another fan jumping up on stage to request a song (tossed out) and Eminem doing his best Cartman impression.

Thrillist - Anthem Kitchen and Bar - Boston, MA
After shuttering its Portland St spot two years ago, the folks behind Ned Devine's and City Table have resurrected this modern eatery in Faneuil Hall, serving an extensive American comfort food lineup in a massive, two-floor 321-seat spot (formerly Plaza III) that maintains five elegantly decorated dining areas equipped w/ dark wooded leather booths, exposed brick/stone walls, dual patios, and a 12-table greenhouse balcony, from which you can watch the fun... wait for it... blossom!!! Burly plates include BBQ braised pork short ribs with cabbage slaw & jalapeno cornbread; a pan roasted Chatham cod shellfish bouillabaisse in a light tomato broth; and a gravy-soaked beef meatloaf laden w/ chorizo & Italian sausage served with whipped spuds and cheesy Texas toast, which would've totally made that greenhouse balcony joke. AKB also cooks up herb-crumb topped four-fromage mac & cheese w/ hot dogs, Tasso ham, or butter poached lobster; a crispy beer battered and tartar-slathered fried cod sandy; and a wood-grilled pizza piled high w/ steak, gruyere, truffled mashed potatoes, and shaved bacon, which looks way better then when it had that stupid soul patch.
