Great theater in Łódź -- This is our art
Human... what would a human be without theatre? What would we become without art , actors and spectacles? Art is what feeds our souls. It lets us go back in time to the ancient Greece, where theatre was born. Opera, operetta, theatre performances, ballet... cause a range of emotions and states from happiness and excitement to sadness and reflection. Theatre is a place where everything seems different, mysterious and beautiful at the same time. Theatre walls and the old wooden stage remember countless performances and tunes, many smiles and many tears. Today, however, a new question arises -- what would the current theatre be without automation?

Polish City of Łódź: The Water Paradox - Metropolitans
The city of Łódź in the middle of Poland is something of a paradox.
Unlike many other major cities, it did not spring up around a major river.
And yet it is because of water that it developed and grew to be the metropolis of three quarters of a million people that it is today.
Every day at noon, the Łódź anthem rings out from the town hall, a song written in the 19th century in celebration of the industry that brought the city wealth - textiles.
And for a place without a major water supply, it might seem bizarre that its symbol is a boat.
The city's Mayor Hanna Zdanowska told euronews that there is water even though it is not highly visible: The city of Łódź began here and developed rapidly thanks to the number of rivers that criss-cross it. In fact Łódź sits on 18 rivers.
'Rivers' is perhaps an overstatement. The biggest is maybe just 10 metres across at its widest. The others are more like streams - like the Sokołówka.
With water so scarce, they have to keep it clean.
Professor Maciej Zalewski, Director of the European Regional Centre of Ecohydrology described his purification system which is much cheaper and more efficient than an industrial plant.
Most of the pollution falls as sediment in this pool, he said. The process is reinforced by these strips.
Cloth filters catch virtually all pollutants, and afterwards they're used to fertilise lawns.
The water - almost as clean as a mountain spring according to the professor - feeds into a lake in a nearby park.
Without a major river, Łódź grew up around its main thoroughfare - four kilometres long Piotrkowska Street is straight as a die.
City guide Dominika Ostrowska told euronews: In the 19th century as the town got richer it was everyone's proud dream to have a house on Piotrkowska Street. Like Juliusz Heinzel's house behind me, which is now the town hall. The interior has hardly changed.
The Rubinstein Alley is my favourite part, she went on. The great pianist was born there at number 67. Today there's a sculpture of Arthur Rubinstein, sitting at a grand piano.
They might not have had much water in Łódź, but what they had was exceptionally clean and so perfect for making textiles. From 1820 onwards, the red-brick mills shot up and the population exploded.
The city of Łódź came about thanks to big money, Mayor Hanna Zdanowska said. It developed in the 19th century and at the time it was one of the three fastest growing cities in the world. In less than 100 years, it transformed from a small town of 1,500 into a city of more than 600,000 people. We want to find our roots, and we think that saving this beautiful post-industrial infrastructure is a real chance for the city.
'Manufaktura' is one of the biggest shopping and leisure centres in Europe. It was created from an old factory with private investment.
The Łódź city art centre is partly completed. Work on the rest of the centre is still underway.
Its director Krzysztof Candrowicz told us: This is an old factory built in the 19th century by the industrialist Karol Scheibler. It's been transformed into an arts centre, and here we can host lots of artists, festivals and events. Most of all, when the work is finished in two years, this area will grow to 10,000 square metres and will house a new centre of creative industry called Art Inkubator.
They are renovating an old power-station that supplied Łódź with electricity until the beginning of the 21st century. It is one of the biggest industrial conversions in the world. The aim is to create a new city centre.
The man in charge of the project, Paweł Zuromski, showed us around: This is the old generator hall, part of it dates back to 1907. After the works have finished there'll be a centre of cinema art here. At its heart there'll be mainly what you'd call a theatre of sound. That'll be a recording studio big enough for a large symphony orchestra and a choir.
The old machine room will house an art gallery and conference rooms. There will also be a planetarium and a 3D cinema.
And there is a part they call the new generator, built in 1930. There will be a research and technical centre. The installations are intended mainly to explain energy production.
Łódź is always looking for water, to live, and for leisure like the Fala aqua park - but also to open itself up to the wider world.
The Marshal of the Łódzkie Region, Witold Stępień, said: It's clear that the city can't function well without its surrounding region. The water-treatment plant for example was built by Lodz and its neighbouring communities.

mspresents.com
Martin Scorsese Presents: Masterpieces of Polish Cinema is a 21-film series released by Milestone in partnership with Propaganda Foundation, DI Factory, CRF, KinoRP and The Film Foundation. The series features brand-new restorations of classic works from some of Poland's most accomplished and lauded filmmakers, spanning the period from 1957--1987. Curated by Mr. Scorsese, the series premieres at the Film Society, February 5-16, and will travel to 30 cities throughout North America this year. Each film will be presented in brilliantly re-mastered and newly subtitled DCPs.

Poland has long been home to one of the richest national cinemas, and the period surveyed in this program was an especially fertile one, said Dennis Lim, the Film Society's Director of Cinematheque Programming. We are proud to be partnering with the Film Foundation and Milestone to launch this major national tour. Handpicked by Martin Scorsese, this is an extraordinary selection of films, ranging from classics to rarities, all worthy of discovery and re-discovery.
Highlights include the Andrzej Wajda's Palme d'Or winner and Academy Award-nominee MAN OF IRON (1981) about the workers' strike in Gdańsk that led to the fall of communism in Eastern Europe and Krzysztof Zanussi's CAMOUFLAGE (1976), a comic story of a contentious relationship between a young linguist and an associate professor; Alexander Ford's BLACK CROSS (1960), a blockbuster (and the most-viewed Polish film in history) set against a backdrop of medieval battles; Wojciech Has's mystical film adaptation of THE SARAGOSSA MANUSCRIPT (1964), a prize-winner at the Edinburgh and San Sebastian film festivals; Andrzej Munk's EROICA (1957), a look at the contrast in lives between that of a street-wise bon-vivant and those of righteous Polish officers incarcerated in a German camp during WWII; and Zanussi's 70s philosophical essay on film incorporating animation, experimental techniques and documentary footage, THE ILLUMINATION (1972).
Other notable films include Jerzy Kawalerowicz's MOTHER JOAN OF THE ANGELS (1960), NIGHT TRAIN (1959), PHARAOH (1965), Krzysztof Kieslowski's BLIND CHANCE (1981) and A SHORT FILM ABOUT KILLING (1987), Wajda's ASHES AND DIAMONDS (1958), INNOCENT SORCERERS (1960), THE PROMISED LAND (1974) and THE WEDDING (1972), and Zanussi's THE CONSTANT FACTOR (1980).
The genesis of Martin Scorsese Presents: Masterpieces of Polish Cinema began in December 2011 when Scorsese received an honorary doctoral degree from The Polish National Film, Television, and Theatre School in Łódź, Poland. While there Scorsese met with the Polish organizer of the series, Jędrzej Sabliński—a digital restoration expert now with DI Factory, which provides data processing to motion picture studios and filmmakers. They both discussed the progress of digital film restoration in Poland and how The Film Foundation could help. In the months following his visit, the idea of a North American tour of a series of restored Polish classics came together, with 21 titles selected by Scorsese from the list of digitally restored films.

Black Sabbath were an English rock band, formed in Birmingham in 1968, by guitarist and main songwriter Tony Iommi, bassist and main lyricist Geezer Butler, drummer Bill Ward, and singer Ozzy Osbourne. Black Sabbath are often cited as pioneers of heavy metal music. The band helped define the genre with releases such as Black Sabbath (1970), Paranoid (1970), and Master of Reality (1971). The band had multiple line-up changes, with Iommi being the only constant member throughout its history.

AMT #2
Surfaced April 25, 2019. Marcelo H. recalls filming this recording on an 8mm DV camera. Sadly, he only had one 45-minute tape with him, citing the expense of tapes at the time. Upon recording the first 45 minutes or so of the concert, he decided to rewind the tape and record some more songs throughout the concert, resulting in snippets of footage being out of order. All songs are accounted for except Windowpane.
Despite being incomplete, the video quality is excellent, the cinematography is great, and the sound quality for the most part is surprisingly good for a video camera.
1. I Am Angie Bowie (Sine Waves) 0:00
2. The Last Rites of Spring 5:15
3. Are You Shivering? 11:19

5. A Warning from the Sun 21:37

8. Ostia 29:13

“Live Four” phase.
Debut performance of “Windowpane.” The naming of such is a bit debatable, but it’s necessary for clarity. In this form as opposed to on the Love’s Secret Domain album, this song is more of an electronic jam. This particular version lacks lyrics that match the album version, but the two subsequent versions of the song have lines akin to them: “Gold is the metal with the broadest shoulders / Took liquid LSD in my eye.”
Supposedly, the entire band were tripping on psilocybin mushrooms – at least John was. They put him in a foul mood. Exacerbating this were several photographers who insisted on using flash photography. He berated the audience throughout the show and gave more of an unhinged performance than usual. Centrum Filmowe has a raised stage, but most of the audience sat on the floor a few feet away from the very front. This gave John the space to run off the stage and interact with the audience.
Photographic and video evidence confirm Massimo and Pierce wrapped themselves in cling film for this performance as well, though it’s unknown if they were required to by the club or just decided to themselves. Unlike at Gdansk, “An Unearthly Red” was played, so they may not have been under any religious obligation to cover up. By the time they got to that song, Massimo’s film was really falling in tatters, exposing his genitals.
