Action Bronson Drinks Through Rural France - From Paris with Love (Part 3)
In the third and final installment of the critically-acclaimed smash hit trilogy From Paris with Love we find ourselves starting out at Le Verre Volé. Action is in for a surprise, as Clovis and the crew at the restaurant arranged for a whole yellowfin tuna to be at the restaurant for his arrival. After sampling the fish’s spinal fluid and eating its loin along with beurre noisette, it's on to dinner.
Brutos is a big meat place. Roast chicken and cote de boeuf are on the menu, and they are easily devoured. In the second half of the show the fellas book it to Auvergne, the home of several pioneers of natural wine. A quick sip and a snack with Aurélien Lefort leads to a big tasting in the cellar of À La Natural producer Patrick Bouju. Until next time, mes amis.

Action Bronson Drinks France's Top Natural Wine - From Paris with Love (Part 1)
Two years ago, Action Bronson was approached backstage at his Paris concert by a fan who just happened to be Clovis Ochin, the top natural wine distributor in Paris. Although Bronson has been back to Paris several times since their first encounter those two nights in September, this was the first time that cameras were present to capture the magic.
In the first installment of From Paris with Love, Action and Clovis visit YARD, La Buvette, and Le Servan to sample all of the latest gastronomic offerings from these wonderful restaurants—and, of course, drink lots of natural wine.

Wine and Management Programme in Paris | Le Cordon Bleu Paris
I believe that students come to learn the expertise that we naturally possess in the wine industry profession in France and also expertise which is essential if you want to evolve in this field – in wine industry roles.
They choose Le Cordon Bleu because we personify excellence and thanks to the fact that we can be found in many countries. We are capable of teaching them by adapting to all these different nationalities.
Being in Paris means that we are at the very heart of international sommellerie: the greatest number of sommeliers in the world can be found here, the greatest concentration of expertise in wine industry professions, and we are within reach of many vineyards. From a geographical point of view, coming to study in Paris is a highly strategic move.
In the 10 month Wine and Management Programme, we alternate theory and practical classes. There are 3 internships during the year, including 1 extremely important internship in vinification.
The student will work in a cellar or winegrowing company and take part in the multitude of tasks involved in making wine. They will mainly take place in Bordeaux (Saint-Emilion) but also in a number of estates in Alsace or the Loire. This diploma has been created to take the best parts of existing training programmes in France. We have taken the best of specialized wine journalism, sommellerie and of the profession of owning your own wine store, and created a made-to-measure diploma to provide students, from around the globe, with know-how, soft skills and expertise.
The curriculum followed by Le Cordon Bleu students enables them to aim for 4 key professions: sommelier, importer, specialized journalist or business owner in oenotourism.

Top advanced facts about Chardonnay, explained:
This is Episode #11 of Julien’s Wine School, and today we’re looking at the Top 5 Advanced-Facts you should know about Chardonnay, so with yesterday’s video, the Top 5 basic facts you should ABSOLUTELY know about the most famous white wine, well… you’ve got here a nice Top 10 interesting things about Chardonnay.
But let’s jump right into today’s 5 detailed facts about Chardy. Let’s go
1.Top White Wine in the World
The Chardonnay grape is the most planted white wine grape variety worldwide. Although it’s the 8th most planted grape variety, and as a white grape, it comes as the 4th most planted in the world.
But the top 3 white grapes, if #1 Sultanina which is a table grape used for making raisins, then Ugni Blanc which is used to make brandy especially in France like in Cognac and Armagnac, and Airen which is used is Spain to make Brandy Like Jerez Brandy (Or Sherry Brand) so Chardonnay IS the most planted white grape used to make actual wine.
2.The Nations of Chardonnay
The top 3 Chardonnay-producing countries are France #1, of course, but very closely followed by the United States which have virtually just as much Chardonnay planted than France
then Australia. But Chardonnay is planted virtually in every wine-producing country, the Top 10 Chardonnay-making nations also including, by descending order of vineyard surface area: Italy, Chile, South Africa, Spain, Argentina, Moldova and New Zealand.
Fun fact: In the early 1940s there were fewer than 100 acres of Chardonnay grapes grown in California. Now there are more than 100,000 acres.
3. More Chardonnay is produced in Burgundy than Pinot Noir.
When we think Burgundy, we often think of red Pinot noir wines, perhaps because Burgundy is also the name of a color, the wine shade of red.
But in fact, Chardonnay represents about 60% of Burgundy’s wine output, compared to only about 30% for Pinot noir.
4.Some of the most expensive wines in the world
Of course, being the most planted white grape, there’s a lot of cheap, tasteless or ordinary Chardonnays out there down the shelves of every supermarket around the globe.
But don’t forget that Chardonnay also makes some of the most expensive wines in the world, with the top 5 most expensive Chardonnays ranging from $4000 a bottle to over $11000 a flask!.
Those are all Burgundy Grand Crus and include: Domaine Leflaive Montrachet, Domaine de la Romanee-Conti Montrachet, Leroy Domaine d'Auvenay Chevalier-Montrachet, Coche-Dury Corton-Charlemagne, and Domaine Leroy Corton-Charlemagne
As for high-end 100% Chardonnay Champagnes, Krug’s Clos du Mesnil, a rare single vineyard, retails around $1200.
In the US, one of the most expensive Chardonnays is Marcassin Estate’s, which retails around $400.
5. The 1976 Judgment of Paris
Most remember mainly, from this historic event that “changed the wine landscape forever”, the results of the confrontation between the Napa Valley reds against Bordeaux.
But Stephen Spurrier’s Judgement of Paris tasting also included white wines made from Chardonnay in France versus California Chardonnays.
There were 6 Cali Chards contenders and 4 white Burgundies in the blind tasting lineup.
The 6 California Chardonnays came from what are now famous classic estates such Chalone Vineyard, Freemark Abbey, Veedercrest Vineyards, the David Bruce Winery or Spring Mountain Vineyard.
The 4 French white Burgundies were: Domaine Roulot, Maison Joseph Drouhin, Domaine Ramonet-Prudhon and Domaine Leflaive.
Of course, the winning Chardonnay was 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay (as was made famous by the Hollywood movie ‘Bottle Shock’) with the runner-up being the French 1973 Meursault Charmes Roulot.

How much do you know about Loire Valley wine? Let's talk to a French wine expert
Wine aficionados, this one is for you! I drove out to Tours, France, to meet with longtime friend Cathy Henton of Le Tasting Room. She runs a top-notch Loire Valley wine tour business with her husband Nigel out of their home and I was their guest for the day. We talked about what you can expect on a Le Tasting Room tour, some wine basics, what organic wine making is all about, sulfites, and more. It's an easy 55-minute day trip from Paris.
As I mentioned in the video, I have no affiliation with Le Tasting Room. I took a wine tour with them back in 2010 and it was so fantastic that I still rave about it today and have stayed in touch with Cathy and Nigel ever since. There's nothing pretentious about how they conduct their tours. Even if you don't know much about wine, you'll be at ease, so don't feel intimidated. You'll learn all about wine, have a wonderful lunch in their home, and then go out to meet the producers and taste the wines.
If you inquire about a tour, let them know you saw my video! I want to see if my video sends any clients their way. ;-)
