(Ube Shrine)
Ube Shrine is a Shinto shrine in Tottori, Tottori Prefecture, Japan.
Ube Shrine was designated as the chief Shinto shrine (ichinomiya) for the former Inaba province.
From 1871 through 1946, Ube was officially designated one of the Kokuhei Chūsha, meaning that it stood in the second rank of national government supported shrines.
It is one of the representative shrines in Tottori prefecture, and it is a famous shrine that is crowded with many worshipers on weekdays and holidays.
In 1899, the Haiden (hall of worship) of Ube Shrine was drawn in 5 yen bills. This is the first time that the Haiden of a shrine has been used in the design of paper money. I think this episode shows the high status of this shrine.
The enshrined deity is Takenouchi Sukune no Mikoto, who served the 5th Emperor in the early Yamato Dynasty. He played a pivotal role in government affairs and worked hard to unify Japan. He was the first meritorious retainer of the country to receive the title of minister in Japan and can be said to be the founder of prime minister.
According to one theory, he lived to be 360 years old. If I live to be 360 years old, He can win the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine just by passing on the secret of longevity, lol. Because of its longevity, it is revered by local people as the god of longevity.
The path leading from the Torii gate is surrounded by thick trees and filled with purity. When you climb up the stairs, the precincts spread out in front of you, and it is clean.
A short walk up the back of the Honden (main hall) leads to a stone called Soriseki (The stone in the video appears at 2:30 ). This is a sacred stone enshrined in a place where the enshrined deity hid himself, leaving a pair of sandals (Zori). A stone chamber was found underground, and it is now known to be part of the tumulus.
(Tottori Prefecture Gokoku Shrine)
Tottori Prefecture Gokoku Shrine is a Japanese Shinto Shrine in Tottori, Japan.
The shrine is designated to the 23,477 people from Tottori Prefecture who died during wars.

Japan Travel Guide: Hagi Part 1 (Yamaguchi Prefecture) - Hot Spring/Beach Resort/Bullet Train
Welcome to Vincent's Travels and Vlogs,
It is my pleasure to present you our Day 2 Travels in Hagi (Yamaguchi), Japan. Everything in this video was captured using the iPhone 7 Plus. I have travelled to many countries in the past, but this was the second travel/vlog video I've ever done. With the Hyperlapse app, I was able to do a time-lapse of the subway, train, airplane, and us walking down to many renowned attractions of Hagi. Most importantly, I would again like to thank the Japan America Society of Hawaii for sponsoring our trip. Enjoy the ride; this is Day 2 of 6 in Japan.

WOW! Yamaguchi city is amazing! | 1st day | Slurp In Japan | Ep. 5 | Yael & Roy's Mania | Japan Vlog
YAMAGUCHI CITY!!
I've been waiting to get to Yamaguchi since I booked my flight to Japan. The most exciting adventure for me in Japan is being in Yamaguchi city.
Why?
Because I was lucky enough to get invited to study how to make proper Japanese Ramen in a local Ramen shop in Yamaguchi city.
For those of you who just started following our channel
( if you haven't yet - Don't forget to subscribe!)
My obsession is Ramen. Ever since I tasted a real Japanese ramen, I was hooked.
I'm determined to learn how to make a proper Japanese ramen.
So since I came back from my previous trip to Japan on February 2017 -
I've been reading, studying and practicing the art of making ramen but I knew that I had to go and see how they really do it in Japan.
So as I said before - I was lucky enough, and a dear friend of mine helped me fulfill this dream.
This video shows the first day of my stay in Yamaguchi city.
Thanks to my local friends - it was such an amazing day, full of beautiful sightseeing and GREAT!!! Food and drinks.
Yamaguchi is a small city ( compared to other Japanese cities ) located in a valley surrounded by mountains, with a small population of around 200,000 people. Yamaguchi area has a lot of natural hot spring water baths, also known as onsen:
- An onsen (温泉) is a Japanese hot spring; the term also extends to cover the bathing facilities and traditional inns frequently situated around a spring.
There are Even public small Feet-Onsens (Hashiyu) all over the cities that you can use if you want to give your feet a little hot-spring-water relaxation ( be careful, the water is very hot ! ).
On my first day, I meet with some of my local friends here ( Brain and Yoshimi, I love you guys! ). We drove around the town for a bit and went to see a local famous Buddhist temple, Rurikō-ji (瑠璃光寺 Rurikō-ji), with its five-story pagoda. During this whole time, Yoshimi, which speaks perfect English, decided that I should practice my Japanese, so she spoke only Japanese with me. It was hard, but fun and very helpful!
After a short stop at a feet-onsen, we went to eat and get some beer and food from 2 different local Izakayas. An izakaya (居酒屋) is a type of informal Japanese pub. They are casual places for after-work drinking and usually has a variety of Japanese Dishes that serves to the middle of the table and shared by the table.
Food is usually ordered slowly over several courses rather than all at once. The kitchen will serve the food when it is ready rather than in the formal courses of Western restaurants.
It was so much fun! Here is what we got to eat:
- Takowasa: raw octopus heavily flavored with wasabi
- Hakata style Gyoza
- Yaki Nasu: Japanese Grilled Eggplant
- Gyoza soup
- Fried rice
- Daikon to Konnyaku no Nimono: A common izakaya side dish
- Sashimi plate
- Namagaki: raw oyster with lemon
- Deep fried Fugu ( Blow-fish - Yamaguchi's specialty )
- Corn kakiage fritters: Japanese fresh corn tempura
- Beef Tataki: tataki refers to beef or fish that is quickly seared over high heat, leaving the center very rare.
- Korokke: deep-fried potato croquette.
It was an amazing day, in a beautiful place, great people and very delicious food!
Hope you guys enjoyed this video!

■TripNotes
Spot1:Kintai Bridge
A wooden arch bridge runs over the Nishiki River that flows through the city of Iwakuni; a sight that can only be seen in Yamaguchi. The bridge was built without using a single nail and it is known as an extremely rare type of construction. Kintai Bridge's beauty changes with time and seasons. The bridge was also featured in an Ukiyo-e painted by Hokusai Katsushika.
Kikko Park sits on the other side of the bridge. Many historical wooden buildings still stand erect in the surrounding areas.
Spot2:Iwakuni Castle
You can take the ropeway from Kikko Park to Iwakuni Castle. This is one of the top 100 castles in Japan. It has traditional white walls and natural moats.
The interiors of the castle are decorated with samurai armors and handicrafts. From the observation deck you can enjoy the beautiful view of Iwakuni and the surrounding areas. Hike to the peak to experience the untouched nature.
Spot3:Akiyoshidai Plateau
Akiyoshidai plateau has serene landscape and the largest limestone caves in Japan. It used to be a coral reef 300 million years ago, of which the limestone remained to form the largest Karst Plateau in Japan. Feel the beautiful nature with fresh greens, blue skies and white rocks while hiking through the grass fields.
Spot4:Akiyoshi Cave
At the base of Akiyoshidai plateau, is Akiyoshi cave; the most prominent limestone cave in Japan. Water flows through the cave, so the whole cave experience is a nature's treat for your ears as much as your eyes. When you walk through the flowing water and enter Akiyoshi cave, you can see limestones and stalactites, stalagmites. Among them, hundred plates which looks like huge dishes stacked up, and a stalactite named golden pillar with a height of 15 m are the highlights.
Food:Local Sake/Iwakuni Sushi
It is well known that Yamaguchi is famous for its sake. In addition to the famous Dassai, there are also many other famous local sake brands. Try out different sake, compare, and choose your favorite one.
Iwakuni-zushi is a local dish of the Iwakuni city of in Yamaguchi. It is a fresh-looking pressed sushi. Don't forget to try it when you visit Iwakuni.
