Ah-Di-Na Historic Trail
The McCloud River Wintu Indians called this spot Place where the water runs fast and shallow.
By 1900, the quality of the fishing along the McCloud River had become legendary. Wealthy people flocked to its banks from all over the country. And, by the turn of the century, several exclusive fishing clubs had been established along its course. Though in ruins now, Ah-Di-Na was once a private fishing resort for the well-to-do Whittiers of San Francisco, later to be purchased by the Fitzhughs and then by the Hearsts. In 1965, the site became a part of the Shasta Trinity National Forests and is the only example open to the public today.
What the visitor sees today of this original complex is the old pack trail which is lined with rock retaining walls, a guest cabin called the Ladies Cabin an orchard (which still bears apples, cherries, pears, walnuts and chestnuts), various unidentified foundations and some concrete lined reservoirs. A storage cellar was built in 1923. And a stone chimney and the outlines of a basement room also remain to this day.
William Randolph Hearst purchased Ah-Di-Na in 1936. The 30s saw Ah-Di-Na in its heyday. At that time it was visited by famous guests from Wyntoon, Hearst's extravagant estate 10-miles upstream, who came here for the fishing.
Hearst adorned Ah-Di-Na with some lavish furnishings, marble bathtubs, a telephone system, tongue and groove walnut flooring in the log cabin, a carbide generator for lights, and a sprinkler system.
The caretaker burned all of the Hearst buildings in 1958 because use of Ah-Di-Na became infrequent and vandalism became an ongoing problem.
A high-clearance off road vehicle is recommended to visit the fascinating site.

Places to see in ( Omaha - USA )
Places to see in ( Omaha - USA )
Omaha is a city in the U.S. state of Nebraska, on the Missouri River close to the Iowa border. A stop on the Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail, it's known for its pioneer history, museums and cultural centers. The Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium spearheads conservation work and features a big cat complex as well as indoor jungle, rainforest and desert habitats.
Omaha is a unique city, as it has the highest number of millionaires per capita in the nation. Conversely, it also has one of the highest rates of African Americans living under the poverty line. It is still quite racially divided, with the affluent west side and Midtown being predominantly white, the south side Latino, and the northeast side African American. Residents are universally friendly and polite, and Omaha has a well-deserved reputation for hospitality.
Omaha has many unique landmarks. Malcom X Birthsite is in North Omaha. His home no longer exists, but a marker stands on his former address. Joslyn Castle, as it is known, is the Scottish-Baronial style home of two of Omaha's most respected citizens and boasts four stories and 35 rooms. Tours are available to the public. Mormon Trail Center has various monuments, including part of the route the Mormons took. The site known as the Winter Quarters marks the pioneers' winter camp of 1846, and 359 Mormons are buried in a nearby cemetery. Gerald R. Ford Birth Site and Gardens pay homage to the late U.S. president. Twice destroyed by fire, the gardens stand where his house was. 'Boys Town' has a small museum and you can drive through it for free.
Be careful if you're planning a quick pit stop in Omaha. Home to the brick-and-cobblestoned Old Market neighborhood, a booming riverfront, a lively music scene and several good museums, this town can turn a few hours into a few days. Omaha grew to prominence as a transport hub. Its location on the Missouri River and proximity to the Platte River made it an important stop on the Oregon, California and Mormon Trails, and later the Union Pacific Railroad stretched west from here. These days Omaha is in the nation's top 10 for billionaires and Fortune 500 companies per capita. Money pours back into the city in spectacular ways thanks to several wealthy benefactors (including Berkshire Hathaway's Warren Buffett).
