Raveningham is a small village and parish in the county of Norfolk, England, about 13 miles south-east of Norwich. It covers an area of 1,990 acres and had a population of 157 in 61 households at the 2001 census, the population increasing to 162 at the 2011 Census.Raveningham is mentioned in the Domesday Book as one of the settlements in Clavering hundred. It is the home of Raveningham Hall Gardens. Located within the premises is St Andrews church, one of 124 existing round-tower churches in Norfolk.

1. Thursford Fakenham
Thursford is a village and civil parish in the county of Norfolk, eastern England. The village is 16.3 miles southwest of Cromer, 24.5 miles northwest of Norwich and 121 miles north-east of London. The village lies 6.9 miles northwest of the nearby town of Fakenham. The nearest railway station is at Sheringham for the Bittern Line which runs between Sheringham, Cromer and Norwich. The nearest airport is Norwich International Airport. The village once had its own Thursford railway station which is now closed. It is a proposed stop on the Norfolk Orbital Railway. Thursford parish church is dedicated to St Andrew and has some fine examples of Victorian stained glass windows. The church was rebuilt in the early 1860s with money given by the Chadd family who lived in the nearby Thursford Hall.

Things to do in York - National Railway Museum | Visit York | UK Travel Vlog

In the second video from my day out in York, I visit the National Railway Museum. It is the largest museum of its type in Britain, and has free entry. It houses a huge collection of locomotives, such as Mallard (which holds the world record for fastest locomotive), a Eurostar locomotive and the only Bullet Train outside Japan. There are workshops within the museum, and we saw the locomotive Sir Nigel Gresley being rebuilt. It also houses plenty of other railway memorabilia, as well as having a lovely cafe with train seats!

Loughborough To Leicester From The Footplate of GWR 6990 'Witherslack Hall': (Part One)

Another opportunity to ride the footplate at the Great Central Railway with my friend & former BR collegue Alan. This time with 6990 and with so much footage taken over two trips I decided to produce two videos.
This 'Part One' is devoted to an almost 'real time' journey between Loughborough & Leicester North filmed from the footplate, a 'Part Two' to follow is devoted to the actual working envioronment of the footplate during a further round trip.
(Note: My apologies for wrong spelling of 'Witherslack' in opening title sequence).

Le Train des Pignes 2017

September brings our annual holiday to France and a pleasant Sunday excursion to visit and film the Train des Pignes up in the hills above Nice. In contrast to previous years when we have filmed in hot sunshine, the day we filmed in 2017, 10th. September, was cold and largely overcast. The train runs on the metre gauge Chemin de Fer de Provence line featuring 1923 built Mallet no.E211 which was owned by Portugeuse Railways. The train operates during the summer months between Puget - Theniers and Annot and the video sees the train at various locations on both the outward and return journeys. Not substantially different to my previous videos of the Train des Pignes due to the same loco having been used for several years and new locations are hard to come by but it is a record of the day and this year we managed to include some shots of the loco movements at Annot.
Thanks to the G.E.C.P. association who operate the steam trains over the line.

WSR. Great Western Routes & Branches Gala 22nd-25th March 2018.

The West Somerset Railway held their Spring Steam Gala , called 'Great Western Routes & Branches' from Thurs 22nd - Sun 25th March 2018. I was Guarding on the Thursday and decided to Film on the Friday and Saturday. Friday went quite well until a Medical Emergency at Stogumber Station late Morning kept Me there much longer than i had planned...So not quite so many clips and varied locations as usual....I successfully managed to keep away from Stations this time with the exception of Stogumber from 250 Yards away !! lol....The thing that really got to Me was my first clips of the S160 .6046 at Stones Wood on Friday Morning...Great clips, well pleased until i realised on playing them back there was NO SOUND...Arrghh....I had inadvertantly not pushed the remote mic's Jack into the socket fully...So cutting out the internal one as well....I was totally gutted....So it had to be retaken on Saturday Morning...........All two Days footage were taken between Combe Florey Bridge and Sampford Brett Bridge near Williton...with various clips being drifting downhill as well as the working hard ones.......The highlight of the Gala was seeing USATC S160 6046 again after its last visit 5 Years ago....especially with the Military Train it was hauling as well as Passenger Ones in the afternoons.....awesome !!!

6201 Princess Elizabeth powers away from Frome with The West Somerset Steam Express 22/10/2016

Another day out to see 6201 Princess Elizabeth in action on the mainline. This time heading the final West Somerset Steam Express of 2016 running from London to Minehead with Princess Elizabeth going as far as Bishops Lydeard before taken over there by 6960 Raveningham Hall the rest of the way.

I went to a foot crossing near Witham Friary on the outskirts of Frome to see the engine powering away from her water stop at Frome on a rising gradient towards Upton Noble for another few miles. The engine was running about ten minutes late due to a late running Penzance HST, but nevertheless making good sound leaving Blatchbridge Junction about two miles away from where I was filming.

The engine’s exhaust can be heard towards the foot crossing and the rise of the track was clear to see as the engine gathered speed. The exhaust became louder and with the engine tackling the long climb to Upton Noble and even a whistle towards the crossing made it very nice indeed and also without the fog during the early morning. She thundered past making a lovely soundtrack to my ears and even a nice man next to me was pleased.

STEAM TRAIN ACTIVITY NEAR MINEHEAD STATION WSR 21 JUNE 2017

Can anyone tell us what the loco was on that first train? The video was taken in a hurry as the train was not expected, being ten minutes late!

No:7903 'Foremarke Hall' is seen hauling some of its last passenger trains before the expiry of its 10 year boiler ticket at the end of the month. Locations: Foot crossing near Woodmancote and Winchcombe station.

A tribute to a Great Brit .... aka 70013 Oliver Cromwell - a journey over 30+ years

I first came across Oliver Cromwell (the locomotive) in the 1980s whilst on holiday on the Norfolk Broads. Bressingham Gardens seemed an unlikely place for this massive beast but I did enjoy a footplate ride up and down a short track in the gardens. Luckily 70013 and 46100 Royal Scot) escaped from the gardens and this video shows Oliver Cromwell on the main line and preserved railways over the past eight years after its restoration. Ollie will not be retiring just yet as it will be running on the GCR for months to come but March 3rd 2018 marks the end of its mainline journeys on the current boiler certificate.
