Antrona Schieranco is a comune in the Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 120 kilometres northeast of Turin and about 35 kilometres northwest of Verbania, in a branch of the Val d'Ossola, on the border with Switzerland. Antrona Schieranco borders the following municipalities: Bognanco, Calasca-Castiglione, Ceppo Morelli, Montescheno, Saas Almagell , Vanzone con San Carlo, Viganella, Zwischbergen . Until 1946, it was a center for silver and gold mining. The Portjengrat is located nearby.

Lake Orta is a lake in northern Italy, west of Lake Maggiore. It has been so named since the 16th century, but was previously called the Lago di San Giulio, after Saint Julius , the patron saint of the region. Its southern end is about 35 kilometres by rail, to the northwest of Novara on the main Turin-Milan line, while its north end is about 6 kilometres by rail south of the Gravellona-Toce railway station, halfway between Ornavasso and Omegna. Its scenery is characteristically Italian, while the San Giulio island has some very picturesque buildings, and takes its name from the local saint, who lived in the 4th century. Borgomezzavalle, the name means the town between the valley an ancient rural village in Valle Antrona, Piedmont, Italy. In winter time there's sunlight all day thanks to a huge mirror placed on the opposite hillside that reflects the rays. Brightly colored houses with thatched roofs, carved from the mountain flank, are clustered around neat cobbled piazzas with wooden benches and flower pots.

The Antrona lake

Lake Antrona is a pretty lake located in the valley of the same name, formed in 1600 due to a landslide of the surrounding mountains due to an earthquake, which obstructed the course of the local stream.
It is easily reachable by car up to the village of Antrona-existence, to then follow the route that is structured in a ring (duration 1h) with no gradient except for an insignificant climb near the waterfall. The lake is particularly suggestive due to the reflections in the crystalline water that the Troncone stream enters into it.
The route also includes a passage under a waterfall which, due to the drought in recent years, has been reduced considerably. The same point is raised and the best photos can be taken at the lake. Also near the waterfall there are tables that allow a stop with a packed lunch and a beach where you can sunbathe. However, there is a prohibition on bathing, even if the lake is calm and peaceful, due to sudden water leaks due to hydraulic maneuvers from the Campliccioli dam above
