Aust-Agder is one of 18 counties in Norway, bordering Telemark, Rogaland, and Vest-Agder counties. In 2002, there were 102,945 inhabitants, which is 2.2% of the total population in Norway. Its area is 9,212 square kilometres . The administrative center of the county is the town of Arendal. The county, which is located at the Skagerrak coast, extends from Gjernestangen at Risør to the Kvåsefjorden in Lillesand. The inner parts of the area includes Setesdalsheiene and Austheiene.     Saltholmen Lighthouse is a lighthouse that is on a small island off the coast about 2 kilometres southeast of the town of Lillesand in Aust-Agder county, Norway. There has been a lighthouse here since 1882. The island are named Saltholmen . This name comes from the salt extraction industry established by Hans Nielsen Hauge that once was located there. The lighthouse is only accessible by boat and the site is open, but the building is not open to the public.
