Thiruvananthapuram District is the southernmost district of the coastal state of Kerala, in south India. It came into existence in the year 1957. The headquarters is the city of Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) which is also the capital city of Kerala. The economy of Thiruvananthapuram district mostly consists of tourism and leisure, information technology, agriculture and education. Tourism has contributed heavily to the economy of Thiruvananthapuram. The entire tourism package of the state such as hill stations, back waters, beaches, lagoons, and wildlife sanctuaries are present in the district. Foreign tourists flock Thiruvananthapuram, a major destination for chartered flights to India for Medical tourism, as there are more than fifty recognised Ayurveda centres in and around the city. This is primarily due to Ayurveda's immense popularity in the West. Medical tourism is further promoted by world class modern medicine hospitals in the city.

You drive past a railway crossing and climb over a newly-built bridge. You reach the beach.

Kayamkulam Lake & Valiazheekal Beach
Kayamkulam Kayal, Kayamkulam Lake or Kayamkulam Estuary is a shallow brackish water lagoon stretching between Panmana and Karthikapally. It has an outlet to the Arabian sea at Kayamkulam barrage. The Lake used to be connected to the sea most of the time except during dry season when a bar like formation separates it from the sea. Now the bar has been opened up permanently for construction of Kayamkulam Fishing Harbor. Kayamkulam boat race is conducted in Kayamkulam Kayal.
Azheekal Beach is one of the most unknown and untouched beaches on the coast of the Arabian Sea. It is in Karunagappally Taluk of Kollam Metropolitan Area, Kerala. The beach got this name from the Malayalam word Aazhee, which means confluence of backWaters and the Sea. Azheekal beach is located at the northern end of the land mass of Alappad peninsula in the district of Kollam, Kerala.

കുമരകത്തിനും തണ്ണീർമുക്കം ബണ്ടിനും ഇടയ്ക്കുള്ള ഈ സ്ഥലത്തേയ്ക്ക് കുമരകത്തു നിന്നും ബോട്ട് ലഭിക്കും. മോട്ടോർ ബോട്ടിൽ ഒന്നര മണിക്കൂറും സ്പീഡ് ബോട്ടിൽ അര മണുക്കൂറുമാണ് ദൈർഘ്യം.
