Barouk Village is a village in the Chouf District of Mount Lebanon Governorate in Lebanon. Barouk is located 52 kilometers southeast of Beirut. Its average elevation is 1000 to 1200 meters above sea level and its total land area consists of 2,762 hectares. The village had 5,197 registered voters in 2010. Its inhabitants are predominantly Druze and Maronite and Melkite Christians.Historically, Barouk is known for being the land of good, because of its fountain, Nabeh-el-Barouk. Al Shouf Cedar Nature Reserve is a nature reserve in the Chouf District of Lebanon. It is located on the slopes of Barouk mountain and has an area of 550 km2 , nearly 5.3% of the Lebanese territory. The reserve contains the Lebanon cedar forests of Barouk, Maaser el Shouf and Ain Zhalta-Bmohray. It is an Important Bird Area and Eco-tourism area. It hosts 32 species of wild mammals, 200 species of birds, and 500 species of plants.

HIKING IN LEBANON TO CHOUWEN with Explore Lebanon Tours! | Lebanon Vlog

Going on a Hike in Lebanon was something that I wanted to do, so when I saw that Explore Lebanon Tours not only offer great day trips from Beirut, they offer a tour from Beirut Hiking in the beautiful Nature Reserve of Chouwen, I had to do it!

Nicola from Explore Lebanon Tours picked me up from The Grand Meshmosh Hotel in Beirut which is where I was staying for 6 nights in Lebanon.

We drove through the crazy Beirut traffic and into the Mountains to Chouwen. The view from the platform half way down to the River looking into the Valley was incredible and then we walked all the way to the Nahr Ibrahim River in Chouwen. It was so peaceful too. There are a lot of places to visit in Lebanon but it seems Chouwen is not that well known!

Afterwards we went to Harissa as it's close to Beirut and was on our way back and we saw incredible views all over the Mountains and Coast.
