Bergen aan Zee is a town on the North Sea coast in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Bergen, and lies about 9 km west of Alkmaar. In 2001, the town of Bergen aan Zee had 483 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 0.22 km², and contained 252 residences.

1. Frans Hals Museum Haarlem
Frans Hals the Elder was a Dutch Golden Age painter, normally of portraits, who lived and worked in Haarlem. He is notable for his loose painterly brushwork, and he helped introduce this lively style of painting into Dutch art. Hals played an important role in the evolution of 17th-century group portraiture.

2. Teylers Museum Haarlem
Teylers Museum is an art, natural history, and science museum in Haarlem, Netherlands. Established in 1778, Teylers Museum was founded as a centre for contemporary art and science. The historic centre of the museum is the neoclassical Oval Room , which was built behind the house of Pieter Teyler van der Hulst , the so-called Fundatiehuis . Pieter Teyler was a wealthy cloth merchant and banker of Scottish descent, who bequeathed his fortune for the advancement of religion, art, and science. He was a Mennonite and follower of the Scottish Enlightenment.

De straten zijn soms smal. Men kan er zelfs verdwalen.
Het dorp is vooral bekend als kustenaars dorp. De kunst 10 daagse is in oktober elk jaar. In de zomer komen er veel toeristen naar het dorp. Ook in de winter blijft het mensen trekken. Ook de omgeving is bosrijk. Het licht aan de voet van de breedste duinen van Nederland.

Bergen op Zoom Netherlands Part 1

Are you traveling to the Netherlands for your next holiday? Make sure you visit the beautiful city of Bergen op Zoom in North Brabant.

The city was built on a place where two types of soil meet: sandy soil and marine clay. The sandy soil pushed against the marine clay, accumulating and forming hills over several centuries. People called those hills the Brabantse Wal, literally meaning wall of Brabant. Zoom refers to the border of this wall and bergen in Dutch means mountains or hills. The name has nothing to do with the little channel the ‘Zoom’ which was later built through Bergen op Zoom.

HOLLAND: Schoorl village & dune forest [HD]

The village of Schoorl lies on the coast of North Holland close to Alkmaar.
It is separated from the coast by the highest and widest dune range in the Netherlands.

The dunes reach about 54 m above sea level, right behind the center of Schoorl, and are more than 5 km wide.

Traditionally, farmers collected sand from the dunes to mix it with the clay of the polders.

As a result, sandy spaces developed that are also known as 'climbing dunes'. Children in particular have a whale of a time climbing up and tumbling down the hills - the largest sandpit in the Netherlands.

Schoorl is a major local tourism location in the summer and counts over 25 campsites, the largest concentration of campsites in the Netherlands.

The village, earlier named Scorel contains evidence of a long history in the form of the old council house aging from 1601. There's also a 17th century reformed church.

The Dutch painter and evangelist Jan van Scorel was born here. Jan van Scorel (1495-1562) was an influential Dutch painter credited with the introduction of High Italian Renaissance art to the Netherlands.
