Missouri State Prison (Inside The Walls) 1836-2004
This is where I worked from 1996-2004.This prison (MO.State Penn) was built in 1836. It lasted untill 2004.In the late Summer of 1996 the Missouri State Prison had a Riot. There were over hundred officers that got hurt; and over fifty inmates also. Later that year, Warden D.Dormire and Major J.Eberle came up with a plan. There was still a lot of tension between officers and inmates. There was the problem with contraband at an all time high? The plan was to reinstate Search & Responce staff. A highly trained emergency response unit. These officers were (D Bulone, J.Bays, S.Coulter, J.Glass, B.Guage, W.Green, W.Foster, W.Lonkauski, E.Whittle, M.Wolfe). Just to name a few! By DAB

We love our Missouri State Parks! So much so we are going to attempt to visit each one and give you a comprehensive guide to each park so you know what to expect when planning a visit!
In this episode we visit Route 66 State Park which is built on top of the old town of Times Beach, MO which was evacuated due to an environmental disaster. The park is near Eureka, MO which is home to Six Flags St Louis and is only a 30 minute drive from downtown St Louis.
The park sits on over 400 acres of land and has 8.2 miles of trails of flat even trails for hiking, biking, walking or horseback riding. There are several picnic areas, 2 large shelters which can be reserved, an equine area for horse trailers and a boat launch for access to the Meramec River.

We are Katie and Scott, travelers, adventurers, seeking a life of full time RV living with our youngest kid and our crazy dog. Right now we're still at the planning stages, getting ready for fulltime RV life while our older kids finish up school and get settled on their own.

The Highest Point in Missouri
The highest natural point in Missouri is located at the Taum Salk Mountain State Park in Ironton, Missouri. The elevation is 1,772 feet. I realize there is not a whole lot to see in this video (looks mostly flat too lol) but this is a place I have wanted to visit for a long time and I'm glad I finally got to see it. MISSOURI STATE PENITENTIARY-PRISON AND GAS CHAMBER TOUR -JEFFERSON CITY, MO-EP27
We took a 3 hour guided tour through the Missouri State Penitentiary, Gas Chamber and Warden's house. This home is preserved and used privately for special events, but for the public, now has a prison museum in the basement. It was fascinating.
You will want to go on line and figure out which of the many tours will fill you needs, and then BOOK a reservation. Costs and times
vary. They even have overnight tours!
The tour was given by one of the deputies that worked at the prison for 25 years, as well as one of the nurses that worked in the prison hospital.
For most of the years that the prison was operated, all of the prisoners had to walk in single file lines when moving around the facility, and had to maintain COMPLETE silence. No talking was ever allowed, and you could only speak to a guard if HE asked you a question.
The solitary confinement area was a nightmare. One individual, who managed to live to tell about it, was in total darkness (NOT EVEN A SLIVER OF LIGHT), in an 8’ x 10’ cell, without a bed, in suffocating heat in the summer, with ZERO ventilation, with no exercise, with 5 to 10 other inmates, all competing for the food bucket shoved into your cell once a day. You were all required to SHARED the cells waste bucket!!!
Sonny Liston was one of the two famous prisoners that spent time here. The most famous inmate, which we actually forgot to highlight in the video was James Earl Ray, WHO ESCAPED, and THEN went on to shoot Martin Luther King, Jr.
This place made Alcatraz look like a Country Club, which we had visited many years prior. This prison is 100 years OLDER than Alcatraz,……and I’m thinking the WIFI sucked worse than most KOA's.
If you are even remotely close to this experience, put it on your list.

We depart Daytona Beach and head 2 hours inland in Florida to hidden gem called the Devil's Den. It's subterranean spring inside a dry cave where you can snorkel and scuba dive. This place supposedly has the remains of animals from the Pleistocene Age (over +2M years ago). If you travel through Florida, you MUST experience this incredible world wonder for yourself.
