Botad District is a district of the state of Gujarat, India. It was created on 15 August 2013 from the southwestern part of Ahmedabad District and the northwestern part of Bhavnagar District. Botad consist of four taluka Botad, Gadhada, Barvala, Ranpur.   • 3. Shatrunjaya hill temple Palitana
    The Palitana temples of Jainism are located on Shatrunjaya hill by the city of Palitana in Bhavnagar district, Gujarat, India. The city of the same name, known previously as Padliptapur, has been dubbed City of Temples. Shatrunjaya means a place of victory against inner enemies or which conquers inner enemies. This site on Shatrunjaya hill is considered sacred by Svetambara Jains. It is said that 23 of 24 Jain Tirthankaras, except Neminatha, sanctified the hill by their visits. There are approximately 863 marble-carved temples on the hills spread mostly in nine clusters, some being vast temple complexes, while most small in size. The main temple is dedicated to Rishabhanatha, the first Tirthankara; it is the holiest shrine for the Svetambara Murtipujaka sect. The main temple is reached by ...

  • 4. Akshardham Ahmedabad
    On 24 September 2002, two armed men attacked the Akshardham Temple complex at Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. They killed 30 people and injured more than 80. National Security Guards intervened and ended the siege the next day, killing both attackers. They killed at least 30 people and wounded 80 others by using automatic weapons and hand grenades. National Security Guards intervened and ended the siege by killing both attackers the same night. Six accused were later arrested by Gujarat Police. In May 2014, a Supreme Court of India bench acquitted all the six prisoners of all charges and pulled up the Gujarat Police for shoddy investigation in the case.
