1. Cirque de Gavarnie Gavarnie
The Cirque de Gavarnie is a cirque in the central Pyrenees, in Southwestern France, close to the border of Spain. It is within the commune of Gavarnie, the department of Hautes-Pyrénées, and the Pyrénées National Park. Major features of the cirque are La Brèche de Roland and the Gavarnie Falls. It was described by Victor Hugo as the Colosseum of nature due to its enormous size and horseshoe shape resembling an ancient amphitheatre.The cirque is 800 m wide and about 3,000 m wide at the top. The rock walls that surround it are up to 1,500 metres above the floor of the Cirque.During the warmer seasons of spring, summer and fall, there are a number of large meltwater falls that spill into the cirque. It's the last couple days of our cycling holiday in the Pyrenees. We had a great time staying at the Free Range Chalet, having been well looked after by Victoria and Geoff (this isn't a sponsored video :) ). During our last couple days, we even saw some sun and had a great day cycling up the Peyresourde which has been used in the Tour de France many times and is part of stage 17 in the Tour de France 2018.

Luz Ardiden Bike Ride Descent

Day 3 in Pyrenees: warm-up ride from Luz-Saint-Sauveur up to Gavarnie, then back (another video - and left turn up to Luz Ardiden. Stunning views, absolutely beautiful, and with so much Tour de France history it was truly a memorable climb.

Video shows just a little bit of the climb followed by an entire descent. Sensible speeds, nice ride down enjoying the moment.
