The Borromean Islands in Lake Maggiore - Italy

The Borromean Islands are a group of three small islands and two islets in Lago (Lake) Maggiore.
Isola Bella (Beautiful Island) is 320 m long by 400 m wide. Until 1632 the island was occupied by a tiny fishing village. In that year Carlo III Borromeo began the construction of a palace. Today the island is divided between the Palace, its gardens, and a small fishing village. Isola Bella is a popular tourist attraction. Isola dei Pescatori (Fishermen’s Island) is about 375 m long by 100 m wide. It has population of only 25 but it is the only one to be inhabited all year round.
Τα νησιά Μπορομέο είναι μια ομάδα τριών μικρών νησιών και δύο νησίδων στη λίμνη Maggiore.
Η Isola Bella (Όμορφο νησί) έχει μήκος 320 και πλάτος 400 μέτρα. Μέχρι το 1632 στο νησί υπήρχε ένα μικρό ψαροχώρι. Εκείνη τη χρονιά ο Carlo III Borromeo ξεκίνησε την κατασκευή ενός παλατιού. Σήμερα το νησί χωρίζεται στο παλάτι, τους κήπους του και ένα μικρό ψαροχώρι. Η Isola Bella είναι δημοφιλής τουριστικός προορισμός.
Η Isola dei Pescatori (νησί των Ψαράδων) έχει μήκος περίπου 375 και πλάτος 100 μέτρα. Έχει πληθυσμό μόλις 25 κατοίκους, αλλά είναι το μόνο που κατοικείται όλο το χρόνο.

The snow-covered alps and the choppy blue water were absolutely stunning, and it was glorious to spend a sun-shiney afternoon on the islands in Lake Maggiore. If you ever have the chance to visit here, don't miss it!
