David's Been Here is in Malawi's capital of Lilongwe, where David tours the city's central market and crafts market. Walk around the tight quarters and crowded stalls selling everything from fruits to clothes, but make sure you bring a guide with you! David explains the semi-hectic scene of traversing the central market, which for some might be a bit overwhelming to experience. Heading off to the more subtle market of the two, David displays the various carvings, souvenirs and trinkets that you can pick up at the Lilongwe Crafts Market. With intricate masks, animals, globes and more being hand carved right in front of you, you shouldn't have a shortage of things to buy at this more touristic market of the two.

The Liwonde National Park is situated in Central Africa and is Malawi’s most well known game reserve.Up until 1962 unrestricted poaching and hunting almost entirely eradicated the wildlife population of the region but in 1969 it was designated as a game reserve and, in 1973, as a national park. The Shire River is the region’s lifeline and more than two thousand hippos inhabit a forty kilometre section of the park. The park’s elephants are no longer slaughtered for their valuable tusks and their numbers, too, are increasing substantially. At the park’s watering holes groups of animals repeatedly gather to drink, an ideal opportunity to observe animals in the wild. Thankfully, the Liwonde National Park is now a natural paradise once more.

Chongoni Mountain and its hilly surroundings dominate Malawi’s sprawling Central Plateau, a region with typical Miombo dry forest that is home to the densest collection of rock paintings in Central Africa at no less than a hundred and twenty seven locations.In 2006 these treasures of mankind were designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, treasures that were previously only known to the local Chewa people. Red and white paintings cover the rocks. The red paintings were created by the Batwa Pygmies who once lived in the region. In contrast, the white paintings were created by the Chewa who settled there permanently. The ascent to the upper rock faces is exhausting but the view is well worth the effort, a vast landscape, as first seen by the hunters and gatherers of ancient times. The archaeological sites of Chongoni are rightly considered to be the greatest collection of rock art in Central Africa.

I signed up to go on a tour with Azizi Life, and I did the home food tour. It turned out to be even better than I was expecting, and truly a glimpse into rural life and a community in Rwanda. The food, the culture, and the dancing after lunch was one of the highlights of the day!
Muhanga Town - In the morning we first drove from Kigali to Muhanga Town, about an hour outside of Kigali. The green mountain roads were spectacular. Rwanda is known as the land of 1000 hills, and I think that might be an underestimation as there are never ending hills in this part of Central Africa.
After being warmly greeted and welcomed by the community of ladies, we first went to go fetch water. This is something many of us, myself for sure, take for granted. But in the rural countryside of Africa, even in cities, there are many people who have no running water, and when they need water for anything, they must walk to the well or source of freshwater, and carry all the water they need. It’s something to always remember.
Next we got started cooking all the food. Most of the ingredients for the Rwandan feast they cooked were from right there, on the hillside, from the small family farms. We had dozens of different vegetables, and of course - beans which were one of the most important foods of this regions of Africa. It wouldn’t be Rwandan food without beans as I’ve heard! Final dish was akabenz, a famous Rwandan pork dish.
You could taste the freshness of all the ingredients. The food was honestly a little plain for my usual taste buds, but I fully appreciated the natural ingredients, the simplicity of the dishes, and the love poured into each dish.
After eating a giant Rwandan feast, all of a sudden they started breaking out into dance. It was one of the highlights of this entire experience.

Somaliland is NOT What You Think...
Have you ever heard of Somaliland?! I am absolutely SHOCKED by how amazing this place is. I never expected this!!!
Since 1991, my birth year, Somaliland has been a self-declared region of Somalia and has been seeking international independence since then (which it truly deserves to get). They have their own government, currency, flag, military, and I even had to get a separate Somaliland visa to get inside.
Somaliland strikes a drastic contrast with its neighbor as a land of peace, democratic stability and safety.
I am not just saying this to sound cool, or for the video's sake, but SOMALILAND IS THE SAFEST I'VE FELT OVER THE LAST 2 MONTHS IN AFRICA. By a long shot. I can walk the streets freely at night without worrying about a thing. I have not felt pressure, once, from people trying to scam me. Everyone is so friendly, honest, and welcoming. It's also very cheap, which is a breathe of fresh air for me.
This video accurately displays my thoughts and first impressions of Somaliland -- I can't wait to explore more around this country all week long!

It was about a three hour drive from Accra to get to the village. The village was somewhere in the central Cape Coast region of Ghana (however no near to the coast, but much inland). The people from the village were so incredibly friendly, and it was one of the most genuinely hospitable and friendly villages I’ve ever visited. It was an honor and privilege to spend time at the village.
As we arrived, they had already started cooking some Ghanaian food specialties. One the menu, we had banku with okra soup, fufu (a staple of West African food) with palm nut soup, and finally fried plantains with beans. All the food was incredibly good, and it was one of the best bowls of fufu I ate during my entire time in Ghana.

Namibia Travel Video -Wedged between the Kalahari and the South Atlantic, Namibia enjoys vast potential as one of the youngest countries in Africa. In addition to having a striking diversity of cultures and national origins, Namibia is a photographers dream -- it boasts wild seascapes, rugged mountains, lonely deserts, stunning wildlife, colonial cities and nearly unlimited elbow room.
A predominantly arid country, Namibia can be divided into four main topographical regions: the Namib Desert and coastal plains in the west, the eastward-sloping Central Plateau, the Kalahari along the borders with South Africa and Botswana and the densely wooded bushveld of the Kavango and Caprivi regions. Despite its harsh climate, Namibia has some of the worlds grandest national parks, ranging from the wildlife-rich Etosha National Park in Northwestern Namibia, to the dune fields and desert plains of the Namib-Naukluft Park in Western Namibia. Windhoek, in the Central Highlands, is the countrys geographical heart and commercial nerve centre, with an ethnic mix of people, while surfers and beach-lovers wont want to miss Swakopmund.
Namibia is one of those dreamlike places that make you question whether something so visually orgasmic could actually exist. Time and space are less defined here. Landscapes collide. Experiences pile up. Watch a lion stalking its prey on a never-ending plain in Etosha. Fly down a giant dune on a sandboard. Spend a night alone in the desert under a sky so thick with stars you cant differentiate between constellations.

South Africa is not only impressive due to its size but also due to its amazing variety of fascinating scenery. Its paradise-like flora and fauna plus its historic and famous landmarks are totally captivating. Johannesburg is a modern metropolis and with around a million and a half inhabitants is the capital of Gauteng Province and the largest city in South Africa. It was founded in 1886 when gold was first discovered at Witwater Beach. Although European influence is obvious in South Africa the first inhabitants of this fascinating country were of course the various indigenous people of Africa and the village of Lesedi around twenty five kilometres south of Johannesburg provides many insights into ancient Africa’s traditions and dances. Lesedi contains four tiny villages that are inhabited by Zulus, Xhosas and members of the smaller Pedi and Basotho tribes. Close to Pilgrim’s Rest is one of the most beautiful landscapes in South Africa, Blyde River Canyon, a spectacular twenty six kilometre long and eight hundred metre deep canyon where erosion caused by the confluence of the Treu and Blyde rivers has created a number of amazing rock formations. With its many craters Moon Valley is evocative of the lunar landscape. This unusual area was formed during a wet period around four hundred and sixty million years ago by the Swakop River that is one of the longest and widest rivers in Namibia. The region became famous due to a miraculous plant, the Welwitschia Mirabilis, a living fossil that was first discovered in the middle of the nineteenth century and can survive for up to six hundred years. The Etosha National Park in the north of Namibia is one of the largest nature reserves in the world. In the dry winter months hundreds of thousands of animals gather and make this park into Africa’s most populated wildlife area. Man must continue to be fully aware of his responsibility to nature and nowhere more so than in Southern Africa that is one of the last natural paradises on Earth.
