Uma visita a Chaves, ao seu centro histórico, com novas imagens da Ponte Romana, o Parque da Cidade, Museu de Arte Contemporânea, Igreja de Santa Maria Maior, e a sua Torre de Menagem. Visitamos o Forte de S.Francisco e a sua igreja do antigo Convento Franciscano. Voamos sobre o Forte de S.Neutel, e demos um pulo ao campo de Golf de Vidago e ao Castelo de Monforte, ambos nos arredores de Chaves. Fizemos um trajecto pelas margens do rio Tâmega e o seu parque, com uma moderna ponte pedonal. Chaves é uma cidade plena de história, de monumentos e de lendas que a alimentam.
À época da invasão romana da península Ibérica, os romanos instalaram-se no vale do rio Tâmega, onde hoje se ergue a cidade e, construíram fortificações pela periferia, aproveitando alguns dos castros existentes. Flavio Vespasiano, em 78 d.C. deu-lhe o nome de Aqua Flaviae, quando ali chegou o exercito, atraído pelas jazidas auríferas da serra da Padrela. Foi aquartelamento de legiões e serviu como local priveligiado para repouso dos guerreiros.
Para defesa do aglomerado populacional foram erguidas muralhas e, para a travessia do rio, construíram a ponte de Trajano. Fomentaram o uso das águas quentes mínero-medicinais, implantando balneários Termais, exploraram minérios, com destaque para filões auríferos, e outros recursos naturais. Acredita-se que a ponte de Trajano foi construída com o auxílio dos legionários da Sétima Legião (Legio VII Gemina Felix).

WEEKEND TRIP CHAVES | PORTUGAL
This is a short video showing you a little bit about my Weekend Trip in Chaves. It is 10 km south of the Spanish border and 22 km south of Verín (Spain).
Chaves is in the extreme north of Portugal, bounded on the north by Galicia (Spain).
Weekend Trip in Portuguese is called Escapadinha and that was what we did, an Escapadinha.
We stay in Casas Novas Countryside Hotel. It's a really nice hotel, with a beautiful view over the Nature. It has Spa included, which is perfect for the winter!
Please come to visit Portugal and all the Portuguese Villages.

Northern Portugal is growing popular as a holiday destination with families staying in holiday rentals. This region of Portugal has amazing attractions such as the historical and cultural landmarks.
In recent years the demand for self catering holiday accommodation has grown. This has resulted in a great choice of holiday apartments, villas, cottages and farmhouses now being available to rent as self catering holiday homes.
In order to enjoy Northern Portugal to the fullest, it is advisable to opt for sightseeing tours, extreme sports and water sports that tourists can enjoy in this wonderful region.
Tourists must try out water sports such as kayaking, snorkeling and canoeing in the beaches of Northern Portugal. Northern Portugal is the perfect destination to try these extreme sports such as skiing, snowboarding and wind surfing. Tourists can enjoy their Northern Portugal holiday trip to the fullest by opting to try outdoor land sports such as biking, trailing and walking.
When staying in holiday homes in North Portugal many holiday makers like to sample the great night life. Many go to the wonderful clubs and restaurants that are so common in this area. The clubs here offer many different types of music including rock, jazz and hip-hop.
Northern Portugal has many bars offering world class beer and wines. One of the most alluring features of checking out the bars here is that tourists can taste the exotic port wine. Holiday makers can enjoy the fresh local food and wine that is served in many of the family cafes and restaurants. This part of Portugal is particularly proud of its local seafood dishes and they are certainly worth tasting if you get a chance.
When on vacation to North Portugal you must try and see some of the wonderful museums. The Museu da Ceramica (Ceramics Museum) is very popular with locals as well as tourists and is worth a visit. The region is also rich in history and local architecture with many religious sites.
One good example of this is Braga town which has lots of beautiful churches. Of particular interest are the Sameiro Sanctuary and Bom Jesus sanctuary. It would also be wise to plan a trip to Chaves to see the 14th century castle. There is also a Roman Bridge on the river Tamega and the mother-church of Romanesque origin to see while you are there.
Northern Portugal is the perfect place to buy horn, wood and cork objects. There are also many decorative kitchen items that can also be bought. Many holiday makers buy the local port and take it home friends as gifts. You can also purchase some of the world's best ceramics and hand made azulejos (hand painted tiles).
This region of Portugal is full of charm and the locals are very friendly. It is a great place to go on vacation as there are so many different things to do. Many families like to rent holiday villas and self catering holiday apartments in this part of Portugal as holiday homes. Bragança - Portugal
Bragança virtual visit .Os celtas baptizaram a cidade, fundada no século II a.C., com o nome de Brigância, que se foi latinizando até passar a ser Bragança. Este nome é a origem do gentílico mais comum: brigantino.
Na área do actual concelho de Bragança, existia já uma povoação importante ao tempo da ocupação romana. Durante algum tempo, teve a designação de Julióbriga, dada a Brigância pelo imperador Augusto em homenagem a seu tio Júlio César.
Destruída durante as guerras entre cristãos e mouros, encontrava-se em território pertencente ao mosteiro beneditino de Castro de Avelãs quando a adquiriu, por troca, em 1130, Fernão Mendes de Bragança, cunhado de Dom Afonso Henriques. Reconstruída no lugar de Benquerença, Dom Sancho I concedeu-lhe foral em 1187, e libertou-a em 1199 do cerco que lhe impusera Afonso IX de Leão, pondo-lhe, então, definitivamente, o nome de Bragança. O regente Dom Pedro, em 1442, elevou Bragança a cabeça de ducado concedido a seu irmão ilegítimo dom Afonso, 8º conde de Barcelos, que fora genro de Dom Nuno Álvares Pereira.
