Colbren Junction was a railway station on the Neath and Brecon Railway. The station, which was near Coelbren, was completed at the same time as the Swansea Vale and Neath and Brecon Joint Railway opened a seven-mile branch from here to Ynysygeinon in 1873. It was a key junction in the networks operated by the Midland, Neath and Brecon, and Great Western railway companies. Although the Welsh spelling of the nearby village is ‘Coelbren’, the anglicised version ‘Colbren’ was used for the station name and in railway literature.

Big Pit National Coal Museum is an industrial heritage museum in Blaenavon, Torfaen, South Wales. A working coal mine from 1880 to 1980, it was opened to the public in 1983 under the auspices of the National Museum of Wales. The site is dedicated to operational preservation of the Welsh heritage of coal mining, which took place during the Industrial revolution. Located adjacent to the preserved Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway, Big Pit is part of the Blaenavon Industrial Landscape, a World Heritage Site, and an Anchor Point of the European Route of Industrial Heritage.

Walk under highest waterfall in South Wales

Henrhyd waterfall in the Nant Llech valley, is the highest waterfall in South Wales, with a drop of 27m. There's a car park nearby, just outside the village of Coelbren. From here, it's a short, steep and rocky but very nice walk. With care, you can walk under the waterfall as shown in this video. Henrhyd Falls and Graigllech Woods. Southern Britain's highest waterfall is tucked away on the western edge of the Brecon Beacons in South Wales. Plunging 90ft (27m) into a wooded gorge, Henrhyd waterfall is a spectacular sight and the surrounding Graigllech Woods are a haven for wildlife.

Inspired by Alan Wilson and Baram Blackett (Holy Kingdom), we took a camera to Oldbury. Could Oldbury be the final resting place of King Arthur I?
