An aEStHeTic (I tried) montage of my trip to Crema.
We were so fortunate to be able to take a summer road trip in Italy. We traveled from Toronto to Milan, then rent a car to drive to Crema. We stayed at Crema for three days from August 24th to 26th.
Crema was magical. It was not as tranquil as we thought it would be since we heard many people saying there was nobody in Crema. Instead, during our stay in Crema, the little town was filled with locals and visitors(mostly Italian). On our first day, we learned that Italian people have a different schedule than us North Americans lol. Italians started their days after 3pm and started eating supper around 9pm. Although it was hard to book a restaurant during the vacation season, we were still able to dine at a pretty empty restaurant around 8pm. We took a walk after supper and we were pretty shocked to see the town center was literally filled with people. It was such a magical moment as I instantly knew what Elio was doing in Crema before he met Oliver--probably just hanging out at the town center drinking espresso lol.
The secret spot and the lake Elio and Oliver swam at were pretty hard to find. The lake was a perfect spot to swim as the water was pretty clean and warm. However the secret spot, as what Oliver said, freezing. Plus the rocks, I could barely stand in it lol.

I hope that you enjoy this little slice of Italy (still got pizza on the brain..) We had the best weekend chilling in the sun, eating the best Italian food and taking in the gorgeous Lake Como views. I would highly recommend for a mini break (or a long holiday!) and we particularly loved this hotel/restaurant nearby for lunch/dinner or breakfast -
