Czchów [t͡ʂxuf] is a town in Brzesko County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Poland, with 2,205 inhabitants . It lies on the Dunajec river, and along National Road Nr. 75. In the period 1928 - 2000, Czchów was a village. The history of Czchów dates back to the time when this part of Poland probably belonged to Great Moravia. Some sources claim that the very name of the town is of Czech origin, as in the documents from the 13th century, it was spelled Czechou, Cechou, and Cehiov.     Lake Czorsztyn is a man-made reservoir on the Dunajec river, southern Poland, between the Pieniny and the Gorce Mountains. It owes its existence to a dam, which is located in the village of Niedzica. The dam itself was completed in 1995. Its measurements are: 56 metres high, 400 metres long and 7 metres wide on top. The lake has the area ranging from 4.15 square kilometres to 13.35 square kilometres . Usually, its area is approximately 11 square kilometres , with the length of 9 kilometres and width of 1.5 kilometres . Maximum depth is 50 metres , and average depth is 17.6 metres . Total length of the shoreline is 29.7 kilometres . Below the dam there is a much smaller Sromowce Lake, which regulates the water level of Czorsztyn Lake.
