Forbach is a commune in the department of Moselle in the northeastern French Region of Grand Est. It is located on the German border approximately 15 minutes from the center of Saarbrücken, Germany, with which it constitutes a cross-border conurbation, and is part of the Saar-Moselle Eurodistrict. According to the 2011 national census, Forbach had a population of 21,954 inhabitants, which, including its greater urban area, makes it the largest town in the eastern Moselle area. Ouvrage Hackenberg, one of the largest of the Maginot Line fortifications, is part of the Fortified Sector of Boulay. It is situated twenty kilometers east of Thionville, in the Moselle département, near the village of Veckring, on the Hackenberg . It is located between gros ouvrage Billig and petit ouvrage Coucou, facing Germany. The fort occupies the wooded Hackenberg ridge. Before World War II it was considered a showpiece of French fortification technology, and was visited by British King George VI. In 1940 Hackenberg was never directly attacked, providing covering fire to neighboring positions and harassing nearby German forces. Its garrison was one of the last French units to surrender after the June 1940 armistice. In 1944, under German occupation, it was in action against American...

Saarbrücken | City Tour

Hi there! This is a quick vlog like video of my day in Saarbrücken, Germany. This city is on the boarder of France....like within 10 minutes of walking you've crossed the boarder! It serves as a major shopping hub for the area and also has a main train station connecting to other popular European cities. There's a lovely city center where you can find charming cafes, variety of restaurants, and multi weekly farmers markets.
My Favorite place is the beautiful park...as you can see on nice days like this everyone is outside soaking up the sun. I found a nice tree chill out under for an hour. The city also has many connecting bike paths, so it's perfect to take a relaxing ride.
I hope you enjoyed getting to see a taste of my neighborhood. I plan on doing more of these style videos as I visit more of my favorite European cities.
