Fort Washakie is a census-designated place in Fremont County, Wyoming, United States, within the Wind River Indian Reservation and along U.S. Route 287. The population was 1,759 at the 2010 census. Fort Washakie is named after nearby Fort Washakie, a U.S. Army post established in 1869 and named after Chief Washakie in 1878.

1. Hot Springs State Park Thermopolis
Hot Springs State Park is a public recreation area in Thermopolis, Wyoming, known for its hot springs, which flow at a constant temperature of 135° Fahrenheit. The state park offers free bathing at the State Bath House, where temperatures are moderated to a therapeutic 104°F. The petroglyph site at Legend Rock, some 25 miles away, is also part of the park. The park is managed by the Wyoming Division of State Parks and Historic Sites.

2. Sinks Canyon State Park Lander
Sinks Canyon State Park is a public recreation and nature preservation area located in the Wind River Mountains, 6 miles southwest of Lander, Wyoming, on Wyoming Highway 131. The state park is named for a portion of the Middle Fork of the Popo Agie River where it flows into an underground limestone cavern, named the Sinks, and emerges a quarter-mile down the canyon in a pool named the Rise. The park is managed by the Wyoming Division of State Parks and Historic Sites.

Roaming in a Herd of Wild Horses near Laramie Wyoming

On this Airstream Life vLog, we go on one of our favorite adventures to date. We take a 2-hour tour at the Deerwood Ranch Wild Horse EcoSanctuary where we go out in an ATV and get to learn about the history of the ranch and then roam among their herd of 350 wild horses. This ranch works with the BLM to feed the horses and helps get them off the public lands. It is amazing to be able to go among the horses and be part of the herd. Some of them are super curious and even come up to sniff you and the ATV. Between the horses, the wildflowers and the mountains it was an absolutely gorgeous morning and we would recommend it to anyone!

After being awed in the morning we headed into Laramie for lunch at a brewery. We walked around downtown to see the cool mural project and finally ended up at the University of Wyoming to see their T-Rex statue. Wish we could spend more time in Laramie but we have to move on!

2016 Rai-Zen Sun Day 19 Part 3 Thunder Basin to Custer (Black Hills)

After descending from Bighorn National Forest we continued on back roads in Wyoming (Old-87, 1002, 387, 450 Thunder Basin Grasslands) to Newcastle where we hopped on to US-16 and crossed the South Dakota border. This video ends at Custer, so barely a taste of the Black Hills. Part 4 is more Black Hills riding from Custer to almost Rapid City where the video dropped off.
