Fougères is a commune and a sub-prefecture of the Ille-et-Vilaine department in the region of Brittany, northwestern France. Its inhabitants are called the Fougerais. In a 2014 census, Fougères had 20,189 inhabitants. The Fougères area comprises approximately 88,000 inhabitants and is currently growing, unlike the town centre.

    The Botanical garden of Upper Brittany is a private estate, open to the public, with an area of 25 hectares, located in the Ille-et-Vilaine department of Brittany, near the medieval city of Fougères.
