Historic US 30, Dodson -Columbia Gorge - Troutdale, OR 092214
Here is a dashcam video of the old Columbia River Highway from Dodson (@ Exit 35) to just before crossing the Sandy River @ Troutdale. It pretty much follows the exact route of the original Columbia River Highway, the first major paved highway in the Pacific Northwest, opened in 1916. This section and the part from Mosier to The Dalles are the 2 major remainig drivable remnants of that road. Within 2 decades of its opening, it became outdated and a more water level and straighter and faster US 30 was built and most of that is the basis of todays Interstate 84. Thankfully parts of this road have been preserved (other sections as recreation trails) for recreational access.
