The layout is as a result of an international town planning competition.     Nordstan is a shopping centre in Gothenburg, Sweden. It is the largest shopping centre in Gothenburg with approximately 180 shops and 150 offices. The shopping centre's total area is about 320,000 m2 divided into nine interconnected buildings, where retail and restaurant floor space makes up around 70,000 m2 . The covered streets and squares comprise 8,000 m2 . The companies housed in Nordstan employ approximately six thousand people and the total annual turnover was SEK 4.1 billion in 2013. The main passageways in the centre are public spaces and therefore are open for use after shops have closed. The character of the centre changes after closing time of the shops. The presence of adults is drastically reduced and the premises become a hangout for youth.

It is placed in a classicistic building from 1923 at Götaplatsen in the center of the city. Today Göteborgs Konsthall investigates the various forms of contemporary art and presents around five exhibitions a year. Göteborgs Konsthall was built as an art exhibition hall for the jubilee fair of Gothenburg in 1923. After the jubilee fair the Gothenburg art association took over the direction until 1968 when the direction was handed over to the city and Göteborgs Konsthall became a part of Gothenburg Museum of Art.     Haga is a city district in Gothenburg, Sweden, renowned for its picturesque wooden houses, 19th century-atmosphere and cafés. Originally a working class suburb of the city with a rather bad reputation, it was gradually transformed into a popular visiting place for tourists and Gothenburgers. A major renovation of the area was made in the 1980s, houses were either renovated or torn down and replaced by post-modernistic replicas. Today, Haga has a population of about 4,000 people , a much smaller population compared to 15,000 people one hundred years ago – an indication of the gentrification the district has gone through.Haga is also a parish with the same borders as the city district. It is, areawise, the smallest parish in Sweden.
