    Eilat Airport , also known as J. Hozman Airport , is an Israeli airport located in the city of Eilat, and named for Arkia Airlines founder Yakov Hozman . Eilat Airport is located in the central area of the city, next to Route 90 . It mostly handles domestic flights to Tel Aviv and Haifa with international flights operating instead to Uvda International Airport, but a few international flights on aircraft that can handle the relatively short runway use Eilat as well. The airport was expected to cease operations on October 27, 2018 when Eilat's new international airport, Ramon Airport, becomes operational. However, the new airport is delayed and won't be operational until March 2019 at the earliest.

    HaMakhtesh HaGadol is a makhtesh, a geological erosional landform of Israel's Negev desert. It measures 5 x 10 km.A makhtesh has steep walls of resistant rock surrounding a deep closed valley. One of five makhteshim in Israel and seven in the world, HaMakhtesh HaGadol is the second largest, being exceptional in that it is drained by one river, Nahal Hatira. Makatesh Gadol was discovered and named before Makhtesh Ramon which is the largest Makhtesh in Israel. HaMakhtesh HaGadol is near Yeruham, Israel's first development town, established in the early days of the state. The location was chosen because the region was thought to be rich in natural resources.

    Yeruham is a town in the Southern District of Israel, in the Negev desert. It covers 38,584 dunams , and had a population of 9,511 in 2017. It is named after the Biblical Jeroham. The mayor of Yeruham was Amram Mitzna, but his term ended in early 2011, and he was succeeded by Michael Biton of Kadima, who was elected mayor in November 2010.For many years, Yeruham was economically depressed and suffered from image problems, but major efforts to improve the quality of life are under way.
