Kiev Oblast or Kyiv Oblast is an oblast in central Ukraine. The administrative center of the oblast is the city of Kiev , which also serves as the capital of Ukraine. Despite being located in the center of the Kiev Oblast, and hosting the governing bodies of the oblast, Kiev itself is a self-governing city with special status and not under oblast jurisdiction. Kiev Oblast neither corresponds to nor is limited to the unofficially designated Kiev metropolitan area although it is significantly dependent on the urban economy and transportation of the latter.     Mizhrichynskyi Regional Landscape Park is the biggest regional landscape park in Ukraine. It was founded in 2002 near the village Otrokhy in the Kozelets Raion of the Chernihiv Oblast. It is located between two large rivers, the Dnipro and Desna, from which the park's Ukrainian name meaning between the rivers is derived. Mizhrichynskiy Landscape Park has an area of more than 1,000 square kilometers in the south-eastern Chernihiv region. The Desna river forms the eastern boundary of the park, while the western and southern boundaries coincide with the border of Chernihiv region. The forest is mostly pine trees.     Ancient and Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe is a transnational composite nature UNESCO World Heritage site, encompassing forests in 12 European countries. The Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians include ten separate massifs located along the 185 km long axis from the Rakhiv mountains and Chornohora ridge in Ukraine over the Poloniny Ridge to the Vihorlat Mountains in Slovakia. The Ancient Beech Forests of Germany include five locations, cover 4,391 hectares and were added in 2011. The Carpathian site covers a total area of 77,971.6 ha , out of which only 29,278.9 ha are part of the actual preserved area, while the rest is considered a buffer zone.
