Exploring BORDEAUX in FRANCE:
When visiting France this year, we decided to spend 2 days in Bordeaux.
Bordeaux is a port city on the Garonne River in southwestern France. It is well known for its delightful wines and breath-taking architecture. Since June 2007, the city has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in recognition of the unity of its exceptional urban heritage.
Bordeaux simply is an amazing city not to be missed!

A source of pride for Bordeaux, the Saint-Michel freestanding bell tower, which the people of Bordeaux call “La Flèche” (The Spire), is 114 metres high and soars slim and light toward the sky. Unusually, and like the city's Saint-André cathedral, this is freestanding and located alongside, rather than on top of the church. The belltower was built in the 15th century on an ancient burial ground.
Mummies found in a nearby cemetery were exhibited there to the public in the late 18th century. Their shrivelled faces haunted the Saint Michel crypt for many years. There were nearly 70 mummies, and they attracted thousands of visitors, including such famous authors as Victor Hugo, Gustave Flaubert, Théophile Gautier, and more recently, Ferdinand Céline. Some of them were given names: Buried Alive, The Family Poisoned by Mushrooms, The African, The General Killed in a Duel, etc.
The macabre display ended in 1990. An audio-visual presentation now recounts the history of this exhibition that is still remembered by many Bordelais. Saint Michel belltower and its crypt are open every day of the week during the tourist season.

I spent about 1 week in Canada working together with Québec Original and the local tourism boards to show you an interesting mix of the best things to do in Québec featuring outdoor adventures, sights and food experiences along the Great Trail.
The Trans Canada Trail, being promoted since 2016 as The Great Trail, is claimed to be the world's longest network of recreational trails.
I got the chance to camp by a lake, canoe, paddle, hike, climb, bike and do horseback riding - all the activities you are able to do along the Great Trail. On top of that I had the chance to fly with a seaplane to get to see the Mauricie region from above.
Even though I had only that little time I managed to cover a big part of Quebec from Gantineau all the way over to Quebec City spending most of my time out in the nature

Plus d'infos: Bangkok est la capitale de la Thaïlande. C'est à la fois une ville et une province. La ville occupe une superficie de 1 569 km2 dans le delta du fleuve Chao Phraya en Thaïlande centrale et son nombre d’habitants est supérieur à 9 millions, plus de 19 millions de personnes habitent l’aire métropolitaine de la capitale, soit plusieurs fois plus que tous les autres centres urbains du pays.
La ville est connue pour ses sanctuaires richement décorés et ses rues animées. Rempli de bateaux, le fleuve Chao Praya alimente son réseau de canaux et passe par le district royal de Rattanakosin, où se trouvent l'opulent Grand Palais et son temple sacré Wat Phra Kaeo. À proximité, le temple Wat Pho dispose d'un énorme Bouddha allongé et, sur la rive opposée, le temple Wat Arun est doté d'escaliers raides et d'une flèche de style Khmer.
Les racines de Bangkok remontent à un petit comptoir commercial crée durant le Royaume d'Ayutthaya au xve siècle qui prend de l’importance avant de devenir le site d'une première capitale, Thonburi, en 1768. Mais la date officielle de sa fondation par Rama Ier, premier roi la dynastie Chakri, est le 6 avril 1782, sur l'autre rive du fleuve. Bangkok s’inscrit au xixe siècle au cœur du mouvement de modernisation du royaume de Siam, alors que le pays subit la pression des nations colonisatrices européennes. La ville est ensuite au xxe siècle le théâtre de l’évolution politique de la Thaïlande, notamment avec l’abolition de la monarchie absolue, l’adoption d’une constitution, et plusieurs soubresauts politiques parfois violents. La ville a connu une formidable croissance à partir des années 1960 et exerce aujourd’hui une influence centrale sur la vie politique, économique, culturelle, universitaire et médiatique de la Thaïlande.
Le boom économique asiatique des années 1980 et 1990 a amené beaucoup d’entreprises multinationales à installer leur siège régional à Bangkok. La ville est un important pôle d’affaires. C’est également une plateforme internationale pour les transports et la santé, tout comme pour les arts, la mode, les spectacles et le tourisme. Bangkok fait partie des villes les plus visitées au monde.

Cycling[edit]
Huy is home to the finish of the La Flèche Wallonne (English: Walloon Arrow; Dutch: Waalse Pijl), an important 1-day cycling race held midweek in mid-April. The race traverses, and finishes, at the summit of the Mur de Huy (English: Wall of Huy), a climb of about 1 kilometer with an average gradient of 10%, with sections of 20%. Huy has also been used in the Tour de France four times: 1995, 2001, 2006 and 2015.

Huy Trinh, Definer of the Huy Curve, Nutty Movement LegendMeuse. In the latter part of the 17th century, Louis XIV’s wars caused the city to be repeatedly attacked and put to the sword, to the point that the frustrated inhabitants dismantled their own castle, source of their miseries, in 1715.
A new fortress was built by the Dutch in 1818 at the same strategic location above the town. The 19th century was a period of relative prosperity based on the paper and other industries. The decline of heavy industry in the 20th century was felt here, as in other parts of Wallonia. Today, the city has started to prosper again, thanks in part to its tin products and tourist activity.
In 1970 the Tihange Nuclear Power Station was built.

Every seven years, a religious procession takes place in the so-called 'septennial festivities' in commemoration of the end of a drought in 1656. The last one took place on August 15, 2012.

Le plus grand miroir d'eau du monde est à Bordeaux !
Extrait de l'émission Des Racines et Des Ailes : de l'Atlantique à la Méditerranée diffusée le 05/10/2016.
En 2006, le miroir d'eau a vu le jour à Bordeaux, devenant rapidement un emblème de la ville. Un fontainier qui a participé au projet nous explique comment a été conçu et pensé cette inhabituelle pièce d'eau. Nous admirons le moment magique où l'eau de la Garonne se font avec celle de la fontaine. Je pense que Bordeaux ne sera jamais égalée !
