Grenoble, a city in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of southeastern France, sits at the foot of mountains between the Drac and Isère rivers. It's known as a base for winter sports, and for its museums, universities and research centers. Spherical cable cars called “Les Bulles” (Bubbles) connect the town to the summit of La Bastille hill, named for the 18th-century fortress on its slopes.
Known as the 'Capital of the Alps', Grenoble boasts great museums, excellent dining, effervescent nightlife, outstanding quality of life and a superb public transport system. Home to a slew of high-tech industries, the 1968 Winter Olympic City is the focal point for a wider metropolitan area of more than 650,000 Grenobloises and Grenoblois, nearly 10% of them students. The city is dramatically sited among the looming massifs of the Parc Naturel Régional de Chartreuse and Parc Naturel Régional du Vercors, with clear sight lines to Mont Blanc itself. Cut by the swift-flowing River Isère, Grenoble delivers mostly mild weather thanks to its low elevation.
Grenoble is crossed by two rivers, the Drac and the Isère (the lion and the serpent), and is surrounded by three mountain chains, the Vercors, Chartreuse and Belledonne. Alot to see in Grenoble such as :

Laura Meseguer is a freelance graphic and type designer born in Barcelona. As a typographer and type designer she is specialized in all sorts of projects involving custom lettering and type design, for branding and publishing design. In 2003–2004, she took a year off from her regular work to study type design at the post-graduate course Type]Media at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague, the Netherlands. Through her own type foundry, Type-Ø-Tones, she publishes and promotes her type designs. Since then she has been teaching and giving talks and workshops around. She is the author of TypoMag. Typography in Magazines, published by IndexBook and co-author of the book “Cómo crear tipografías.
Each Wednesday: two speakers + one facilitator
Our free talks open to the public will include two speakers: graphic designer as well the weekly #typeparis18 international guest critic. The venue is limited to 130 people, after this limit, you will be added to the waiting list, and your entry will not be fully guaranteed. Our Talks will be given in English, no livestream, but available videos at a later date. Being present on the spot is the best way to miss nothing. Meanwhile, as the #tptalks18 are organized in Paris, France, most of attendees will be Parisians. Le Français sera largement employé par les participants lors de l’inscription et des échanges nombreux durant la soirée.

Les passerelles/footbridges du Monteynard (Isère - France)

(EN) Lac de Monteynard-Avignonet is an artificial water reservoir for the Électricité de France power station on the Drac River. It belongs to the department of Isère. It is bounded by the canyons of the Drac and Ebron.
The lake was created in 1961, when the 145-meter-high dam was built. The lake is 10 kilometers long, and in some places up to 300 meters wide.
This lake is often windy and wavy. It is considered to be one of the best places for windsurfing and kitesurfing in Europe. It is also an important site for fishing, as it has a great variety of fish species. Swimming in the lake is permitted.
The lake is bordered by the following municipalities: Avignonet, Cognet, Marcieu, Mayres-Savel, Monteynard, La Motte-Saint-Martin, Roissard, Saint-Arey, Sinard, Treffort.
In 2007 two simple suspension bridges were built across the Drac and Ebron. The bridges are 220 and 180 meters long, respectively, and used 1200 meters of cable.[2][3] Depending on the level of the water in the lake, the Drac bridge is 45—85 meters high above the lake. Construction of the bridges was achieved with the help of helicopters.
The bridge design was based on traditional simple suspension bridges used in the Andes (see Inca rope bridge) and Himalayas to cross deep gorges from rim to rim. Locally, the Drac and Ebron bridges are known as passerelles himalayennes (French, Himalayan footbridges). Like some traditional bridges of this type, the Drac and Ebron bridges are stabilized with cables from below the deck.
The bridges allow hiking and biking from Matheysine to Trièves, on a circuit of walking journey and adventure of 30 km route around the lake.

La Pierre Percée, sur la commune de Pierre-Châtel, en Isère, est l'une des Sept merveilles du Dauphiné. C’est une arche naturelle, d’environ 3m de hauteur, perchée au sommet de la colline des Creys. On y accède facilement à pied depuis La Motte d'Aveillans ou Pierre-Châtel. De nombreuses légendes, mettant en scène le duc de Lesdiguières, le diable ou des démons racontent qu’il s’agit d’un dragon, d’un démon ou autre monstre qui aurait été pétrifié…

Zermatt is a municipality in the district of Visp in the German-speaking section of the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It has a population of about 5,800 inhabitants.
The village is situated at the end of Mattertal at an altitude of 1,620 m (5,315 ft), at the feet of Switzerland's highest peaks. It lies about 10 km (6 mi) from the over 3,300 metres high Theodul Pass bordering Italy.
Zermatt is famed as a mountaineering and ski resort of the Swiss Alps. Until the mid-19th century, it was predominantly an agricultural community; the first and tragic ascent of the Matterhorn in 1865 was followed by a rush on the mountains surrounding the village, leading to the construction of many tourist facilities.
The Sunnegga Paradise is accessed via a funicular railway, followed by a gondola to Blauherd and finally a cable car onwards to the Rothorn (3,103m) above. The topography of the mountain and the valley tends to keep the Rothorn clear and sunny, even when Zermatt is submerged in cloud.
From Blauherd there is a gondola down to Gant, and from there a connecting cablecar goes to Hohtälli. This cable car and the newer 4-seat chairlift Sunnegga-Findeln-Breitboden provide connections between Sunnegga and Gornergrat. With few steep slopes, this mountain is often used to train younger skiers.
The Matterhorn (German), Monte Cervino (Italian) or Mont Cervin (French), is a mountain in the Pennine Alps on the border between Switzerland and Italy. Its summit is 4,478 metres (14,692 ft) high, making it one of the highest peaks in the Alps. The four steep faces, rising above the surrounding glaciers, indicate the four compass points. The mountain overlooks the town of Zermatt in the canton of Valais to north-east and Breuil-Cervinia in the Aosta Valley to the south. The Theodul Pass, located at the eastern base of the peak, is the lowest passage between its north and south side.
Sierre (German: Siders) is the capital of the district of Sierre in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It has a population of 14,355.
It is situated on the French-German language border of the canton of Wallis (Valais in French). As a German-speaking minority lives in Sierre, it counts as one of the three official bilingual towns in Switzerland. Sierre is starting point for the tourist sites of the Val d'Anniviers comprising the villages of Vercorin, Chandolin, St-Luc Vissoie, St-Jean Chandolin, Grimentz, Zinal and Ayer. Sierre is connected with Crans-Montana by a funicular railway.
Sion (German Sitten is the capital of the Swiss canton of Valais. In 2007, its population was around 28,800.
Landmarks include the Basilique de Valère and Château de Tourbillon. Sion has an airfield for civilian and military use, which, because of its location in a valley, causes a reasonable amount of noise pollution. FC Sion is the local football team. They currently compete in the Swiss Super League.
Martigny (German Martinach is the capital of the French-speaking district of Martigny in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It lies at an elevation of 471 meters, and its population is approximately 15000 inhabitants. It is a junction of roads joining Italy, France and Switzerland. One road links it over the Great St. Bernard Pass to Aosta (Italy), and the other over the col de la Forclaz to Chamonix (France). In winter, Martigny is appreciated for its numerous nearby Alp ski resorts such as Verbier.
The Romans left many archaeological remains in Martigny. The city is known for its amphitheatre, which was restored in 1978. Cow fights are held in the amphitheatre during early autumn for the Comptoir. The city is notable for its Pierre Gianadda Foundation (Fondation Pierre Gianadda) museum. This is the most important cultural attraction in Martigny and, in addition to the Gallo-Roman Museum, houses a car museum. The building was constructed around the remains of a former Roman temple built on top of Roman ruins. The foundation hosts three painting exhibitions every year, with works by renowned masters.
