Finnmark, Norway Travel
Finnmark, Norway Travel - Finnmark or Finnmárku is a county in the extreme northeast of Norway. By land it borders Troms county to the west, Finland (Lapland) to the south and Russia (Murmansk Oblast) to the east, and by water, the Norwegian Sea (Atlantic Ocean) to the northwest, and the Barents Sea (Arctic Ocean) to the north and northeast.
The county was formerly known as Finmarkens amt or Vardøhus amt, and since 2002, has had two official names: Finnmark (Norwegian) and Finnmárku (Sami language). It is part of the Sápmi region, which spans four countries, as well as the Barents Region, and is the largest and least populated county of Norway.
Situated at the Northernmost part of continental Europe, where Norway swings eastward, Finnmark has always been an area where east meets west, in culture as well as in nature and geography. Vardø, the easternmost municipality in the country, is located farther east than St. Petersburg and Istanbul.
The Norse form of the name was Finnmörk. The first element is finn(ar), the Norse name for the Sámi people. The last element is mörk which means woodland or borderland. In Norse times the name was referring to any places where Sámi people were living (also parts of Southern Norway).
More recently, Finnmark is also the older name for Lapland in Sweden and is used by some inhabitants in this region. The title comes from Linnés expeditions in the northern Nordic regions during the 18th century, and his choice of name was influenced by the history of the region.

대서양에 면한 항구와 7개의 섬에 걸쳐 형성된 올레순. 장어라는 뜻의 올레와 물길이라는 뜻의 순이 합해 만들어진 이름 그대로, 아름다운 항구도시이다. 올레순을 지키고 힘차게 솟아있는 악슬라 전망대. 총 418개의 계단을 오르면 270m 높이의 정상에 발을 디딜 수 있다.
악슬라는 어깨라는 뜻으로 이 곳에 서면 마치 큰 거인의 무등을 탄 듯 올레순 전체가 한 눈에 내려다 보인다. 올레순 항구 앞에 코발트색 바다가 펼쳐져 있다. 저 멀리 빨간 등대를 옆에 두고 바다에 떠 있는 듯 섬 위의 올레순이 마치 장난감 블록으로 세운 것 같은 건물들을 한 장 한 장 꺼내 보인다. 올레순의 동화같은 거리는 눈물에서 탄생하였다. 1904년 이 곳에 대형 화재가 발생하여 도시의 목조 건물들이 모두 불길속에 재가 되어버렸다. 유럽 각지에서 유학하던 노르웨이 젊은 건축가들은 고국으로 돌아와 3년에 걸쳐 대리석과 벽돌 건축물로 지금의 올레순을 다시 세웠다. 당시 유행하던 새로운 예술이란 뜻의 아르누보 양식으로 지어 섬세하고 아기자기한 형형색색의 건축물들 때문에 올레순은 아르누보의 도시라는 별명을 얻게 된 것이다. 날씨가 좋아 배를 개조해 만든 야외식당에서 점심을 먹기로 했다. 마침 오늘 각급 학교에 입학식이 있어서 초등학생 어린이들을 데리고 외식을 나온 가족들이 많다. 새출발을 하는 아이들이 해맑다. 주방에서 주문한 음식이 나왔다. 연어가 들어있는 수프와 빵인데, 한국 사람인 내겐 매우 담백하게 느껴진다. 시간이 훌쩍 지나 밤 10시를 넘겼다. 백야까진 아니지만 해가 무척 길다. 하늘에 노을이 앉았는데도, 저 멀리 올레순 중심 시가의 수로를 볼 수 있다. 여름 밤 올레순의 경치가 악슬라 전망대에 관광객들을 밤늦게까지 붙잡는다. 바다 위 배와 등대에 불이 켜지는 것도 한 참이 지나서다. 밤 12시가 다 되어서야 거리는 제법 밤의 느낌이 들고, 북국의 도시는 어둠에 덮인다.

Norway NorthCape Winter Driving - Part 1 (Lakselv to Skarsvag Crossing)
This is an winter driving video
Lakselv - NorthCape - Honningsvåg - Olderfjord
It was part of a 900 Km journey
From Saariselkä, Finland to NorthCape, Norway
and return in same day.
We departed from Saariselkä at early morning 5:30 and back to Saariselkä at almost mid-night of the same day.
--------- About the Camera and Video Editing ---------
The video was recorded by a Philips CVR300 in-car camera
and video editing by Windows Live Movie Maker, a freeware
The Raw video quality from CVR300 is OK and it is a HD quality
but loss video quality after editing process.
Video was started recording from Lakselv due to limited SD memory, only 32GB on hand. And the memory card got full after passing Olderfjord at the return trip
