Le Grand Parc du Puy du Fou, Vendee, France
A Scenic walk around Le Grand Park fu Puy du Fou while on holiday in the Vendee, France. On the day we visited the temperature was already 31C at 10:00 so on our arrival we took the opportunity to cool off at one of the many cool water vapour spots around the Grand Park while watching the jets of water, jets sauteurs just as a flying machine went overhead followed by three birds in formation. Then a walk to the woods to admire the artificially generated mist and from there onto Les Orgues Aquatiques (fountains in the lake). After stopping off for another cooling from one of the cool water vapour points we made our way to Le Bourg 1900.
Puy du Fou is a very impressive and large Theme Park in the Vendee with plenty of shows, events and side shows all through the day, and with plenty of other things to see while at the Park such as the Medieval village and the 19th century village to explore the Park fully and take in all the shows and side shows is a good two days visit, and even then to see everything in just two days is a rush.
We've been to the Park twice over the years, the first time just a one day by chance visit the second time, which was just as good, was a planned two days visit. One both occasions we made a point of staying on to watch the two hour open air evening show which takes place after dark and has a cast of 1000 actors, and is very impressive.

The Lavaux vineyards
The Lavaux vineyards have been part of the Unesco World Heritage Programme since 2007. It's a tribute to the unique interaction here between man and nature, and is designed to protect the region from creeping urbanisation. The designation has helped to boost visitor numbers by about 30 per cent, but the vineyards the Unesco label is supposed to protect are struggling to survive. (Julie Hunt, swissinfo.ch)
