Maisons-Alfort is a commune in the southeastern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 8.4 km from the center of Paris. Maisons-Alfort is famous as the location of the National Veterinary School of Alfort. The Fort de Charenton, constructed between 1841 and 1845, has since 1959 housed the Commandement des Écoles de la Gendarmerie Nationale.

1. Chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte Maincy
The Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte is a baroque French château located in Maincy, near Melun, 55 kilometres southeast of Paris in the Seine-et-Marne département of France. Built between 1658 to 1661 for Nicolas Fouquet, Marquis de Belle Île, Viscount of Melun and Vaux, the superintendent of finances of Louis XIV, the château was an influential work of architecture in mid-17th-century Europe. At Vaux-le-Vicomte, the architect Louis Le Vau, the landscape architect André le Nôtre, and the painter-decorator Charles Le Brun worked together on a large-scale project for the first time. Their collaboration marked the beginning of the Louis XIV style combining architecture, interior design and landscape design. The garden's pronounced visual axis is an example of this style.

Hotel Mansart, Paris: a quick tour of room 302

This is a lovely boutique hotel right in the middle of everything in Paris (5 rue des Capucines). Room 302 is one of the nicer floor plans, and I recommend it. Also consider 300, 301, and 307. The other rooms on this level are somewhat smaller, but you still get the great location. My company made the reservation for me @ 215 Euro per night (as of November, 2010).
