    Bandaara Kilhi is one of the two fresh water lakes in Fuvahmulah, Maldives. Located mainly in Maalegan ward of the island with a small part extending to Miskiymagu ward as well, the lake has an area of approximately 0.058 square kilometers and an average depth of 12 feet, which makes it the largest lake by volume in the Maldives accommodating the largest freshwater reserve in the country. Bounded by dense vegetations of mainly ferns, Screwpine, tropical almond, cheese fruit, Banana trees, coconut palms and taro fields plus mango trees as well to an extent, among the creatures which inhabit the lakeside are the common moorhen, which is a bird exclusively found in Fuvahmulah only in the Maldivian archipelago and Maldivian white-breasted waterhen , which is an endemic species of the Maldives....

    Vaavu Atoll is an administrative division of the Maldives comprising the natural atolls of Felidhu Atoll and the Vattaru Reef. It is the smallest administrative atoll in terms of population. This atoll is located 40 miles from capital Malé, 60 minutes by speedboat and 3 hours by dhoni. The Vaavu Atoll administrative division includes two geographical atolls; Felidhu Atoll and the small egg-shaped Vattaru Reef, which has only one little islet, Vattaru and is 9 kilometers in diameter. The easternmost geographical point of the Maldives is located at Fottheyo Muli, close to Foththeyo-bodufushi Island.No remains from the Buddhist period have been found on this atoll.

    The 2007 Malé bombing was a bomb blast on September 29, 2007, in Sultan Park near the Islamic Centre in the Maldivian capital Malé, injuring 12 foreign tourists. The park is located in the shadow Maldivian Army Headquarters where several surveillance cameras are trained. It was the first known bombing to take place in the Maldives. Local media reported that the bomb was homemade, and consisted of a gas cylinder, a washing machine motor and a mobile phone.
