Oberwald is a village in the municipality of Obergoms in Goms District in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It is situated at an elevation of 1377 m and had a population of 277 in December 2007. It is located at the end of the Goms, directly before the Furka and Grimsel passes, underneath the Rhône River source at the Rhône Glacier. It is also the startpoint of the Furka Tunnel. Most inhabitants live off tourism or sheep farming. Oberwald was an independent municipality until January 1, 2009, when it merged with Ulrichen and Obergesteln to form the municipality of Obergoms.

1. Aare Gorge Meiringen
The Aare Gorge is a section of the river Aare that carves through a limestone ridge near the town of Meiringen, in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. The gorge is an indirect product of glaciation; 10,000 years ago, just as the Ice Age was coming to an end, torrential runoff water from melting glaciers eroded a deep, narrow chasm through the limestone barrier. Although barely one mile long, this passage is bordered by sheer cliffs up to 165 feet high on either side. The gorge varies in width from some 30 metres at its widest to just 1 metre at its narrowest.The gorge is a popular tourist attraction, many visitors attracted by the nearby Reichenbach Falls, which Sir Arthur Conan Doyle selected as the setting for Sherlock Holmes' murder by Professor Moriarty. This video is about Our First Morning In Gimmelwald, Switzerland, on 13 October 2013. As you will see it was a glorious morning to walk out of our accommodation, Esthers Guesthouse, and see this lovely scenery.

We stayed at Esthers Guesthouse in Gimmelwald from 12-16 October 2013, in one of the apartments which offered us more room. Esther runs a beautiful guesthouse, with amazing staff, service and accommodation. And I can also add we had the best wifi & internet of our entire European trip here...
