Oberwald is a village in the municipality of Obergoms in Goms District in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It is situated at an elevation of 1377 m and had a population of 277 in December 2007. It is located at the end of the Goms, directly before the Furka and Grimsel passes, underneath the Rhône River source at the Rhône Glacier. It is also the startpoint of the Furka Tunnel. Most inhabitants live off tourism or sheep farming. Oberwald was an independent municipality until January 1, 2009, when it merged with Ulrichen and Obergesteln to form the municipality of Obergoms.

Construction on the House of Switzerland in Sochi finished six weeks before the start of the Games. It took just two weeks to install the temporary wood construction on the grounds. But there's a hitch: Building permission had not been granted.

This video is about Our First Morning In Gimmelwald, Switzerland, on 13 October 2013. As you will see it was a glorious morning to walk out of our accommodation, Esthers Guesthouse, and see this lovely scenery.

We stayed at Esthers Guesthouse in Gimmelwald from 12-16 October 2013, in one of the apartments which offered us more room. Esther runs a beautiful guesthouse, with amazing staff, service and accommodation. And I can also add we had the best wifi & internet of our entire European trip here...
