Long Island is an island in the southeast of the U.S. state of New York, just east of Manhattan. Stretching northeast into the Atlantic Ocean, Long Island contains four counties, two of which are boroughs of New York City (Queens and Brooklyn), and two of which are mainly suburban (Nassau and Suffolk). The Gould Estate at Sands Point
Hempstead House at Sands Point, Overlooking beautiful Long Island Sound. Photographed July 24th 2013. This Mansion was built by Howard Gould, son of Jay Gould. An English Tudor-style manor, designed by architects Hunt and Hunt, in 1912. The massive 40 room house, is 225 feet long and 125 feet wide, with an 80 foot high tower. It was later sold to Daniel Guggenheim in 1917. Castlegould, the castle at the end of the slide show is the stable and carriage house, built in 1904, in the style of Kilkenny Castle in Ireland.
