The pinto bean is a variety of the common bean . It is the most popular bean in the United States and northwestern Mexico, and is most often eaten whole in broth or mashed and refried. Either whole or mashed, it is a common filling for burritos. The young pods may also be harvested and cooked as green pinto beans. In Spanish, they are called frijol pinto [fri.ˈxol ˈpin.to], literally speckled bean , and in South America it is known as the poroto frutilla, literally strawberry bean. In Portuguese, they are called feijão carioca in Brazil and feijão catarino in Portugal.

    The Royal Palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso , known as La Granja, is an early 18th-century palace in the small town of San Ildefonso, located in the hills near Segovia and 80 kilometres north of Madrid, within the Province of Segovia in central Spain. It became the summer residence of the Kings of Spain from the 1720s during the reign of Philip V. The palace is in a restrained Baroque style, surrounded by extensive gardens in the formal Jardin à la française style with sculptural fountains. It is now open to the public as a museum.
