The country owns a total of 145 chartered cities. The cities are divided into three ways. High Urbanized City, component city, and independent component city.
Independent Component Cities are cities outside of provincial jurisdiction, although some are allowed to participate in the election of provincial officials.
These cities have not yet achieved the 'highly urbanized' status.
While Component Cities are those under a province's jurisdiction.
