Its capital is Koronadal City, and it borders Sultan Kudarat to the north and west, Sarangani to the south and northeast, and Davao del Sur to the far northeast. To the southeast lies Sarangani Bay. General Santos, located on the shores of Sarangani Bay, is the most populous city in the region, but is governed independently from the province.     Sarangani, or Saraŋgani , is a province in the Philippines located in the Soccsksargen region. Its capital is Alabel. With a 230-kilometre coastline along the Sarangani Bay and Celebes Sea, the province is at the southernmost tip of Mindanao island, and borders South Cotabato and Davao del Sur to the north, Davao Occidental to the east, and the Celebes Sea to the south. Sarangani is part of the South Cotabato-Cotabato-Sultan Kudarat-Sarangani-General Santos City development cluster, and is linked by paved roads to the international airport and harbor of General Santos City. The province is divided into two sections, separated by the Sarangani Bay and General Santos City, and it used to be part of South Cotabato until it was made an independent province in 1992.

    Mount Parker, locally known as Melibengoy, is a stratovolcano on Mindanao island in the Philippines . It is located in the province of South Cotabato, 30 kilometres west of General Santos City and 44 kilometres south of Koronadal City. The volcano's English name is taken from an American, General Frank Parker, who spotted the mountain and claimed to have discovered it during a flight he piloted in 1934. Parker led an expedition up to the lake in the mountain's crater with other US colonial and Filipino government officials, including Vice-Governor-General Joseph Ralston Hayden and Provincial Governor Gutierrez, in the fall of 1934.
