Sturt National Park

Tibooburra is a town in the far northwest of New South Wales, Australia, located 1,187 kilometres from the state capital, Sydney. It is most frequently visited by tourists on their way to national parks in the area. At the 2016 census, Tibooburra had a population of 134. Although facilities in Tibooburra are quite limited, fuel, meals and a range of accommodation options are available. All significant support services are based in Broken Hill. New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Service have a tourist information centre in the township. There is also a police station. There is an airstrip about 6 km east of the village.

1. Sturt National Park Tibooburra
The Sturt National Park is a protected national park that is located in the arid far north-western corner of New South Wales, in eastern Australia. The 325,329-hectare national park is situated approximately 1,060 kilometres northwest of Sydney and the nearest town is Tibooburra, 6 kilometres away. Established in 1972, the park is named in honour of Charles Sturt, a colonial explorer. The park features typical outback scenery of flat, reddish-brown landscapes. It was resumed from five pastoral properties. The Sturt National Park was featured in British documentary called Planet Earth. The Dingo Fence was built along the national park's northern boundary.

I must say, whenever I spend time with my son, it’s a great experience. We are so much alike, considering the large gap in our ages.
Early in July 2018 we spent a couple of days exploring the dirt tracks north of Broken Hill.

When I first saying to my mates that I wanted to do a road trip to experience NSW Outback, I had mixed reactions.

Some referred me back to the movie Wolf Creek, one of them said 'Why would you go there?' in which I replied 'Why would you NOT go there?'

On this trip I was driving a Hyundai Tucson, which I had purchased the year before. It’s an AWD vehicle with better clearance then the sedans I had always driven in the past. I also hoped that the tracks north of Broken Hill would be a good place to christen the car on outback roads.
The day I planned to hit the dirt tracks I was greeted with pools of water gathering in the motel car park , I knew it would now be impossible to travel the Wilangee Road. Instead I headed to Tibooburra.
